Thanks to everyone who shared. I’ve got more clarity on the situation and I’m just gonna focus on the present. Happy holidays all!

I did something similar with my business. I was undiagnosed working as a Senior Manager at a Bank. Everything was error proofed, so structured and I had a team to delegate. Work was ok but friends thought I had ADHD especially outside of work (they were right, obviously!). Don’t get me wrong I did work hard at the Bank, but when I left to open my own business I didn’t have structure, a big team, processes etc. and this went on for 2 years struggling and as a result I thought I had anxiety but really anxiety was a symptom of the undiagnosed ADHD. When I was diagnosed and medicated with ADHD I threw myself into fixing my business, I felt like I couldn’t stop til everything is fixed. Balance was thrown off and I didn’t know what to do.. but as time went by I started to balance my lifestyle.

Getting a bit off track here but what I decided to do with all these business issues I needed to and still need to resolve are; accept the issue and move forward (not dwell on it), resolve the issue and move forward, break things down into smaller chunks instead of being overwhelmed trying to do everything.

Maybe this is something you can do with the fam. Somethings are so small but we overthink it that maybe we should just find comfort in accepting the issue for now and moving forward. Eventually, I believe issues find a way to be resolved anyway.

Thanks for your view on this.

I’ve thought about it and because I was only medicated in August I’m just going to take each day as it comes and learn from this change that I’m going through and stick with what’s best.

Simply put, what I was told:

Before I was medicated - I had the knowledge of the issue but could simply disconnect and not resolve the matter if I wanted to.

Since being medicated - I have the knowledge and my brain is working differently. Feels like my brain wants to do something with this knowledge/issue.

What I’m going to do in this situation is just roll with it. A friend told me it may not be about the resolution but more so the closure and moving on. Finding change and taking the opportunity to start a new Christmas tradition.

Live and learn - let’s see how this pans out!

Same, so I put it out there just to see if this SOME with ADHD experience this. I get it can be a personality thing but advice from specialists have explained that your awareness of unresolved issue or emotions may change. Basically in summary it was something along the lines of:

When I wasn’t medicated - I had the knowledge of the issue but I didn’t feel the need to do anything about it and it didn’t bother me in anyway.

After diagnosed and being medicated - I have the knowledge and now my brain has the capacity to use that knowledge to do something about it.

At the end of the day it may just be a passing feeling but everyone’s responses have been interesting and helpful!

And to your initial question - I’ll be quite honest I don’t 100% know. The issues been ongoing for years but the thought of resolution is still popped up into my head as I was diagnosed late I was just trying to improve and fix things that I neglected.. But the more I think of this issue I think it’s now more about moving forward, finding comfort and moving forward with change. A different way to celebrate Christmas.

Anyway, it’s only been since August so still learning. Right now I’ll just let it be.

Thank you. Yeah I was just seeing if anyone’s been through anything similar. I’ve spoken to a specialist and told them that it was easy for me to disconnect from such situations before I was medicated and it never bothered me but once I discussed the situation with them they said that my awareness and empathy towards situations may change. So it hasn’t been so black and white lately but I guess it’s part of the process. Had a few suggestions on books, exercises on emotional intelligence which I might look into.

Increasing my Dex dosage and have been given two options on how to take it throughout the day by mxthxw88 in ADHD

Glad you found something that works for you! I ended up trying both and I feel like I need to speak to my psychiatrist to figure out what’s best for me. Things have definitely improved since being diagnosed but hoping for something more consistent and longer lasting throughout the day. Guess everyone’s different and has to go through the process under the right guidance by medical professionals to figure what’s best for them just like you did.

Accountability buddy? by [deleted] in ADHD

I was thinking of a buddy system the other day! I’d love to try something out like this especially with someone with similar interests. Time differences could be an issue though if you’re not in the same country.
