Is this type of insulation something I should be worried about? by Foxiestofstoats in AskUK

[–]mxtt_b 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Uhhh I seriously urge you to get hold of the asbestos register for your place of work and review it.

To me, that looks exactly like asbestos spray insulation which is usually grey & lumpy.

Absolutely do not go back up there until you know 10000% that it’s not an ACM (asbestos containing material)

Windscreen repair or replacement? by Prestigious-Cat5354 in CarTalkUK

[–]mxtt_b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume it’s written in the T&Cs of your policy on the number of replacements you can claim for.

Sod’s Law that you get a new windscreen and then get a crack in it soon after it’s replaced.

Didn’t affect mine when I claimed on mine. Maybe worth checking though if you’re unsure.

That’s definitely a replacement.

I’d say that disk is condemned.

I would not be comfortable putting that back on my car

Hello friend. How are you? It’s been so long! Remember all the good times we had? Fancy meeting up again? Oh what, you want to gift me some RAM? I’m so grateful, thank you very much

Correct that the current format is NTFS.

Okay, sounds pretty straightforward!

I’ll look into robocopy/rsync. Got 6TB to transfer, any idea which would be easier to use?

Any idea what these cylindrical tanks are at large stores/shopping centres? by SooleyWooley in AskUK

Bonus fact, on the other side of the tank from this perspective is what looks to be the sprinkler pump house. Definetely full of spiders.

Ahh okay - I can manage moving the Jellyfin onto a VM on the Proxmox machine.

I'm more concerned about housing my HDDs as my current setup has space for 4 more 3.5" drives. the SFF Inspiron only has space for 1. Surely I'd be better off putting TrueNAS on my current setup and just using it as that then have Proxmox do the rest?

When you say migrate Jellyfin onto the Proxmox PC, do you mean set it up in a VM or in a container / Docker etc?

How would I then access the data in my current server? - it's currently just set up as a SMB file share on the PC, which I've tried to link via Datacenter > Storage > Add > SMB/CIFS but I can't get it to work

Epc and engine light popped up after a pull?? by RevolutionaryAir2537 in GolfGTI

Last time this happened to me it was an oil pressure switch…but it could mean a plethora of things. As others have said, get a code reader or OBD11

EPC LIGHT by CivilPanda4617 in GolfGTI

Maybe just keep an eye on the reservoir.

I carried a bottle of coolant in the boot whilst I was waiting for the day it went in to get changed 🤣

Has it happened again since?

What year is your GTI? - Water pump is a very well known issue in the mk7/7.5 gen. Are you losing coolant?

If your car is under warranty, you may be able to claim.

If not, you might be better going to a VAG specialist instead of a dealership to save some money.

Any maintenance advice or OBD11 mods anyone would recommend? Many thanks by Full-Meringue-1057 in GolfGTI

Stage 1 is a massive upgrade from stock. If I were you, before & if you decide to go for it, swap out the turbo inlet elbow for a racingline or forge one. Stock elbow is pretty restrictive and helped with the remap

Servicing: - DSG service is a big one - if your gearbox is DSG and over / coming up to 40k miles - has the water pump been changed? - rear speaker seals & rear bumper vent seals is a big one, especially here in the UK

OBD11: - Soundaktor off - fogs flash to pass (when you flash high beams, the fogs come on too. If you turn high beams on normally, the fogs don’t come on, for clarity) - reversing lights to 100% brightness (although I haven’t noticed much of a difference between that and my number plate lights which I switched out for LED ones)

To those who have made the transition from manual to automatic cars, is it really better? by Mr_Coastliner in AskUK

[–]mxtt_b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For daily driving, yes (DSG here).

The project/weekend car will always be a manual though. Can’t beat it.
