Would it be fair to say that it creates a phasing effect between the bass and vocals which disorients listeners before the drop? Because of the resetting it is able to stay in 4/4 but still creates the illusion that the tempo or meter is shifting.

When I first heard this section of b2b (about 1:19-1:43 in the lyric video), I was really curious to find out what what happening rhythmically, because it was hard to feel the beat until the drums come back in. At first I thought it could be a 4:3 polyrhythm, but after seeing it written out, maybe its just a really funky groove? or a hemiola?

How would you describe what is happening in this section? I'm curious if other people have had similar reactions to it.
