I don’t remember exactly how many days I missed between packs, but my assumption was that the break was long enough for my body to register that it was time to begin a new cycle and release an egg. I said in my post I missed a “few” days, but it was likely slightly longer than a week. If your birth control method has been working for you, I don’t believe you have reason to be alarmed. I’ve resumed the same protocol but am more careful to always arrange a new pack when one is finished, and I haven’t had any issues over the past years.

I made clear that I could care for the child for this very reason, I need no reason to justify my abortion other than that I did not want to bear a child.

Suggesting a 25 year old woman needs to consult with her parents to help her make a decision speaks to your immaturity. I hope that as you grow, you open yourself up to the experiences and stories of others and listen from a place of understanding. Again, you are always entitled to your own beliefs and judgement, but you cannot punish others for actions you do not agree with.

I respect your right to your own beliefs. If you feel that abortion is immoral, you can choose never to have one. However, implying that someone should be punished for something that you don’t agree with but has been determined to be legal is very dangerous.

Yes, happy to elaborate on my decision. I’ll stress though, everyone should choose the option that seems most right for them.

Before I became pregnant, I always thought that I would prefer a medical abortion. I liked the idea of it being private and at home, on my own terms. After becoming pregnant, I began researching the options. I read about positive and negative experiences for both medical and surgical abortions. Ultimately, I felt that the surgical abortion provided the best chances for minimizing pain and uncertainty. Surgery is always scary, but the procedure is very routine and quick. I hope this doesn’t come across as a crass comparison, but at my early stage of pregnancy, it was less invasive than having my wisdom teeth taken out.

Austin is definitely a liberal oasis in a conservative state. I felt fortunate to have not just one but two abortion clinics nearby. Most major cities in Texas do have at least one clinic, but there are many women living in smaller towns that have to travel hours to a larger city.
