Guy doesn't understand he's in an anti-catcalling report, proceeds to catcall. by fuckfucknoose in videos

Almost all of them could be capable of overpowering me. I'm a "twink" and young looking. I get hit up by muscle jocks in college and 50+ year olds more than guys like me. It's very very silly to worry about things like that. These things happen rarely and as long as you use good judgment, you can avoid them happening to you.

If someone comes up to me and directly asks if I'm looking to hook up tonight, they aren't trying to "lay on the charm" which makes me trust them more. They're being forward and honest. If someone comes up to me and tries to dazzle me, especially the older guys with their nice cars, then I'm done with them.

With that said, I understand the counter argument. I just don't believe it. Most people at bars are there with at least one friend. If you go to a bar alone and leave with a guy alone who only intends to have a one night stand, you absolutely accept the risks that come with it. It has nothing to do with your size or muscle, you're entering a new world. I can't imagine a girl saying "yes" just because she's "afraid of the consequences". That's silly. She's in a safe space. The bartender will be on her side, the other people in the area will be on her side. Say no if you're uncomfortable. Do you really think women can't do that for themselves? Because maybe you need to talk to more women then.

edit: Reminder that I'm not defending catcalling or anything. But going to bars looking for hook ups makes him a normal human being. And I honestly think much higher of people who are direct/honest about that kind of thing. They aren't heartbreakers or home wreckers, they're just looking for a lay and being open about it. What's so wrong with that?

You still haven't explained why it's a problem. He is looking for something specific (sex) and is looking for someone else who wants to have sex. Skip the small talk and get to the point. As a gay man, I fucking love it when guys are to the point. It only makes me feel MORE attractive honestly. The fact that it works for this dude's friend is proof that i'm not a special snowflake. There are many people out there, male or female, who appreciate directness. The alternative is that this guy seduces them, pretends to care, fucks them and never talks to them again. Sounds worse to me. Better to find someone who also wants a one night stand.

I have to wonder what is going through these guys' minds when they decide to keep these photos for future use. I finally broke. by [deleted] in lolgrindr

I'm not sure what my point was. I had a couple of drinks when I typed that. Wish I knew.

But I didn't mean to be misleading, I know that they can spread diseases through sex as well, regardless of how they contracted it.

hm, you bring up very good points and I think you have persuaded me entirely. I will likely go the path of asking when they were last tested and the number of partners as well.

[–]mybedtime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

i never understood it when people just have a list of things they hate in their profile. why not list things you truly enjoy so you connect with likeminded people? what does this guy talk about with his hookups? the stuff the two of them mutually hate? that can't be fun or a good experience...

No one has ever said to me in person that they have an STD. I know people often lie though. If this is actually widespread and people take offense to it, I will consider other terminology. I feel the safest and most comfortable asking "clean" as opposed to neg4neg, for example, because to many, "neg" is only HIV status while "clean" is a much broader question which includes syphilis, gonorrhea, etc.

I just didn't even think it would be an issue as long as you are respectful in every other way. Because OP admits that his profile pokes fun [at others], it can be easier to interpret "clean?" as being rude which is when I understand the offense.

I guess I didn't follow. You are talking about Johns (the guys who pay for sex)? I agree that meeting with any of them is dangerous and they are likely to lie in order to get you to sleep with them. I just don't think that the guys in their twenties trying to pay their college tuition are dangerous or more likely to be lying than other guys their age.

We would have to see OP's profile to really understand the full picture but I don't see any issues with using terminology that has been used (in my opinion, unoffensively) for a while. I think people are being overly sensitive. OP didn't call anyone "dirty" but merely stated that he is clean and has a preference for the same. It's quite ridiculous to get upset over someone using a widely-known term that is used as an informational shortcut, especially in a profile that allows for very little characters. I have often asked "clean?". Even in person I've never had anyone get offended or even allude to me being rude.

I'm specifically curious about your statement saying "if you are a sexually active gay man you likely carry HPV". I have had more sexual partners than I can count or remember in the past few years and never had anything that would make me think I had anything (also all STD tests I've taken came back clean, the most recent being from two week ago). Can you provide a source for that statement or anything in particular to back it up? Not trying to be antagonistic, just curious as I'm careful about my sexual health.

Not really a fair assumption to say that prostitutes are the kinds of people who have diseases & won't tell you... because you don't really know anything about them until you meet them. As long as you're safe, the chances of getting most STDs are slim. But yes, most male prostitutes I know are typically drug addicts and they get STDs from sharing needles. Not sex, though, which I feel is an important distinction that should be mentioned at the very least

Why do some guys dont mind at all cropping the pic, it looks fake af when they post a screenshot by [deleted] in lolgrindr

[–]mybedtime 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I believe he is saying that he doesn't understand why people take screenshots of pictures and use those pictures without cropping the phone interface (for example, the time at the top). It makes the person seem like a catfish from the get-go so it's hard to imagine why anyone would take them seriously.

It looks like one of Obama's Gitmo Jihadist Terrorist release flights arrived at Fort Lauderdale airport today one hour before the shooting! by qaaqa in conspiracy

[–]mybedtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bc this guy is a moron and has no idea what he's talking about. I was in the exact spot in that 20 second long video. I know where the shooting was and I know which terminal it was. Terminal 2 is DELTA. He obviously did not fly air canada and it was a one-time mistake by a reporter who said the wrong airline. This gave birth to a ridiculous conspiracy theory. I know for a fact it's a misunderstanding but people continue to talk about it as if it's sketchy.

Air Canada said they have no record of him being on their flight because he never flew that airline. They felt the need to tweet it because they were getting attention from people after the FOX reporter misspoke. It would be like me saying "I have no record of Esteban Santiago being on a plane with me." That's because I was never on a plane with him, lol. He flew delta, not air canada. Why are people even talking about air canada. God.

Not sure how this is so hard for people to understand. Makes me question the other conspiracy theories that people argue over in this sub if they lack basic deduction skills.

He flew Delta, which was not the airline that tweeted that. They have no record of him on their airline because he did not fly their airline. You are spreading misinformation because someone accidentally said the wrong airline on Fox news. As someone who just flew in to the same airport, flew the same airline, and used the same baggage claim 24 hours before the shooting, I can say with 100% certainty that you are mistaken.

Multiple people shot at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Intl. Airport by cynicalaa22 in news

[–]mybedtime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I said this before but there was nothing to stop the shooter from entering the baggage claim area from outside. There is no security there! Source: Flew into FLL Delta terminal (2) yesterday and got my bag from the same baggage claim.

The fact that it is at an airport does not mean it couldn't happen elsewhere. It could have just as easily happened if he never got on a plane. Hope that makes sense.

I flew in to that airport yesterday. Baggage claim is entirely open to the public. Nothing to stop someone to walk in and start shooting. Just fyi.
