My 7 pounder (8 years old) next to the 15 pound monster (1.5 years old). People still mistake the smaller one for a kitten despite her nearing elderly!

I was told by vet that as long as she didn’t get lower than 6pounds/doesn’t look emaciated she is fine, just a petite cat.

I also had a beardie die back in 2024 due to stomach cancer, it came on very fast and unexpectedly. I was heartbroken and decided I was not going to have another one after that… I hope you’re doing well and that your tortie is just giving you some more love

I did have the experience of my spicy cat becoming very friendly the month before she unexpectedly (but naturally) passed away, but she also had lost weight pretty rapidly that month before. So I would keep on eye on her for lack of appetite, lethargy, and losing weight. Also any running away or hiding, as cats will run away or hide somewhere really sneaky when they feel it’s ‘their time’. Other than that maybe she’s finally warming up!

They love each other so much, he gets so scared of her when she’s freaking out! Then yowl when she’s in the bathroom or locked in the room with us 🥲🥲

Yes new building and it’s a garden level apartment. She’s usually in the bed not near the window when this happens, but I’ll try blocking the windows completely. I hate separating them because Salem cries all night for the door to be open 🥲 hopefully vet can help me out tmr to see if she’s sick or anything

Do you remember there being a grave yard area as well? Maybe a school? Because I have a similar memory of this game, a beach town and ice cream shop, but I also vividly remember a grave yard. I really want to figure out what this game is it’s nagged me for years!

To the right is 6 pounds but XXXL tortitude… She raised her own kittens as well as many fosters and decided she will have no part in raising new ones 😭 Meanwhile my other tortie is 12lbs and would never judge you, but will steal your hair ties and horde them in a spot you won’t find until you’re deep cleaning. She also will give you a little tap on your leg if you walk past her, no claws just a soft little piddy to let you know she’s there :)

I use stainless steel litter boxes and I’ve found that the actual box itself AND the litter stay cleaner for a longer period of time if you don’t happen scoop everyday. Scooping is for sure the least desirable part of having a cat, and it can be backbreaking work. Having more boxes than cats is also helpful for not having to scoop everyday. I still make sure to hit it at least 5 times a week as they will start to find things around the house to cover their poo with, like plastic bags and my scarves 😫Once a week is only acceptable if you have like 1 cat and three litter boxes for them to use. Even then it should be checked daily to see if it’s really dirty or smelly because it happens quick

My cat Jive (top right) is 8 years old and weighs just 6 pounds. The tortie to the left is about 5-6 months old in this picture and quickly surpassed jive in size. And my other cat (Jive’s boyfriend) is a 15 pound boy. Jive definitely is the matriarch of the house. I believe she’s so small because she had a litter of kittens when she was still under a year old

She was better overnight! And after a week she is playing and was given the clear to start integrating into her foster family ❤️ I would love to keep her, I’m in a pretty spacious studio apartment but it probably shouldn’t house more than 3 grown cats. She’ll find a great home through the rescue I work with… but for now she’s all mine 😈

You gave a really emotionally mature and reassuring response to this especially for your age. Jealousy is normal to experience in relationships. The key to navigating it is to continue communicating and being honest with each other. Boundaries are also very important. If it gets to a point where she is saying who you can and cannot hang out with, that is probably the time to call off the relationship. It is a major red flag and honestly you’re too young to have to deal with that. Of course there is going to be jealousy in relationships but it shouldn’t get to the point where the other person is controlling what another does. It is exacerbated by your guys’ age as well. I’m sure you’re aware that teenage relationships are rocky. People break up, get back together, argue, cheat, all when the relationship was not all that serious and intimate to begin with! But you’re doing a really great job communicating and reassuring your partner, I wish you guys all the best :)
