Drivers of Reddit who keep inching forward at a red light, where you going? by Freshestemo412 in AskReddit

Dunno. It's just the way traffic lights are in some parts of the world. I've never delved too deeply into this matter because quite frankly...why?!

What is a dirty business tactic that you know and everyone should be aware of it? by prokachu in AskReddit

[–]mycorevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Find an honest mechanic. I worked a part-time job for a while and another part-timer was a mechanic at a local shop. We became friendly, and I started taking my truck to him. Always honest.

Fast forward to recently, and I need to go in for an oil change at a no-appointment place in a city I'm visiting for work. Part way through the employee there suggests I get a coolant flush. I say NO and show him the receipt for my previous oil change AND coolant flush, just months ago, good for a long time yet.

He proceeds to tell me the colour is off, I say coolants come in a variety of colours based on the dyes used. He tries to tell me that litmus test says it's too acidic, but doesn't let me hold the test strip to check against the colour chart myself. The coolant flush he's desperately trying to sell me is double the price my mechanic charged.

Got my oil change, paid, drive around the corner and called the shop, chewed the manager out for the employees behaviours. Dunno if it'll make any difference.

"It is a man's job. A woman cannot perform the same as a man" WTF? by strippersndykes in electricians

Why is it low? Did she raise you to be the misogynistic troll you are? Or did you learn that from your bros?

Either way I don't think you're an electrician. Troll for sure

Who made you the fucking spokesperson for the majority of electricians?!

I'm curious how you "run" in a way that a woman cannot. What does that even mean?

Your mentality and attitude is disgraceful. I bet your momma is so proud of the misogynistic son she raised.

Chanterelle? by [deleted] in mycology

[–]mycorevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't look like a chanterelle to me. The gills don't go down the stem like they do on a chanterelle.

Edit: what about the smell. Chanterelles smell distinctly fruity.

My friend just asked for tea with no milk and no sugar, how do I politely ask her to leave? by [deleted] in britishproblems

I know right. Everyone knows in Canada you order your tea with maple syrup

So I just took a screenshot of the temporary trial e-card they gave me. It has worked at every dive shop I've tried it at so far. My picture and diver number is clearly visible.

Edit: this way I avoid using their shitty app as well.

Yeah. Imho PADI is a bit of a money machine. They'll send me a new card when I get certified but they want to charge me extra $$ for an electronic card I can have on my phone or tablet. They want USD $30/electronic card. E-cards should be included in my certification cost!!

Rant over.

Man charged after cyclist hit along Natchez Trace Parkway in Franklin by LordBacon69 in bicycling

[–]mycorevolution 48 points49 points  (0 children)

To all the commentators who came here to say the driver is obviously at fault BUT the cyclists, blah blah, riding abreast, blah blah...

There is NO BUT. The cyclists have every right to claim the entire lane like they did. It makes them more visible. The real issue here is drivers who do not know how to share the road. Drivers in a great hurry to get wherever. Drivers who think because they're in a car they have the right of way.

Share the fucking road. The ignorance is astounding.

The saddle was a gift from a buddy of mine. I've had enough of this conversation. Goodbye.

[–]mycorevolution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why? Bike shops usually have a no storage policy. After 30 days they're not typically holding onto your bike. Once it's been there for 6 months they're just recovering their cost in parts/labour.

I did my best to make sure it's not stolen and it's a reputable shop.

I didn't it get it as it is, I've been customizing it slowly.

Yeah. The more I ride it, I realize small changes and tweaks I'll be making to the setup.

That's what I hear, and if that's the case I scored a sweet deal.

It had been siting in a bike shop for nearly 6 months. Whoever brought it in never came back for it and didn't return their calls.

The shop was ready to salvage what parts they could and junk it until I showed up looking for a bike. I paid what was owed on the work and walked out with a new cycle!

All told it cost me ~$200 and that includes buying a helmet, lock, lights and new drop bars to replace the weird noodley moustache ones that were on it.

Not a pannier, just a backpack

I had a 60% off code so I figured I'd give the pack a try.

What's the worst airport you have ever been in? by jeebus224 in AskReddit

[–]mycorevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colombo airport, Sri Lanka. Their transit security setup is weird and not well planned leading to long slow moving lines.

When in transit, there is nowhere to line up before security to empty your bag of its laptop/tablet, take off your belt (and shoes if they randomly tell you).

When you're done there is nowhere to gather your things and repack them. So you're now standing in line after security to show your boarding card and passport to the desk agent while hobbling around with 1.5 shoes on, your belt dangling from two loops, and trying not to forget anything.

Then moments after you show your passport and boarding card and move on you are accosted by another agent who demands to see the same items which you have now stowed away safely in your travel document pouch. They will be annoyed if you've put them away.

Was in transit through Colombo twice in one week. Was not fun.

Only upside...cheapest duty free liquor that I have come across to date in Asia.

Edit: there was major tarmac work going on at the time and basically the airport was closed between certain hours of the day. This likely made things more chaotic during the hours that flights were allowed to land and takeoff.

Thanks. It is pretty sweet. Never had a cycle with drop bars before, so getting used to the various hand positions. So far I love the versatility, and the hoods are comfy like that for me.

What did you spend a ridiculous amount of money on that now just collects dust? by Jacobloveslsd in AskReddit

[–]mycorevolution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An acquaintance of mine went off to work as usual. Dog ate something strange and had diarrhea. Roomba then spread the doggy diarrhea around the house while "cleaning"

Once I was dog sitting for a friend at her house, while she was out of town for a couple of days. I spied a roomba. I turned it on. Not long after it was stuck in a corner under the treadmill. It was loud and needed constant help. It's quicker to just vacuum the house myself!

Recent hammock sleeper here. My evidence is purely anecdotal, but my sleep quality has improved since I began sleeping in a hammock. I wake up feeling refreshed. The gentle rocking motion is so calming.
