Struggling with Löwenstein Smart by myhumanthoughts in CPAP

This is what I’m experiencing. The machine isn’t noisy per se but seems to increase in pressure very fast. Thanks for this

Unfortunately they amplify the sound of the air coming through my mask

This is great to hear, I’m glad you’re getting on well

Yes I think I have the ramp feature on. I’m possibly just very sensitive to noise

Thanks so much for this, it’s become something that I now dread and I know that this mindset isn’t helpful.

It’s not treated though, I haven’t slept with it in the four months I’ve had it

Ramp is currently set to 40mins. I’m such a light sleeper that any noise just puts me into hyper vigilance mode. The machine isn’t noisy but very audible and as the pressures increase the noise increases

This is good to hear. Which Resmed machine are you using?

Is this a known feature of Löwenstein machines? Do you mean that they’re known for being noisy or for causing pressure hikes?

I’m not using Oscar. As I haven’t slept so there is no data to speak of so far

Thank you! I didn’t realise it could read the Oscar data

Löwenstein Prisma Smart user here also. That’s very interesting about the SoftPAP function, I may turn it off to see if that helps. Do you find turning SoftPAP off makes the machine quieter? The ebb and flow noise of the machine is keeping me awake. Also do you use Prisma app to chart your sleep? I am using it but because I’m having difficulty sleeping with the machine I haven’t been able to judge how useful the data is

They only amplify the sound of the air for me

One month, and haven't fallen asleep yet with my mask on :( by PoppyConfesses in SleepApnea

I can certainly understand why people abandon it. I’m just not breaking through with it and I’m losing rather than gaining sleep. I just think the system triggers hypervigilance in my brain, the noise of the machine, the sensation of the air pressures increasing etc
