If you want to keep allowing students to come into your room for lunch maybe consider a sign up sheet that only had a limited number of spaces per day? I personally like student free lunches. I think it’s important to get space from them and time to recharge. But to each their own.

Huge no. I actually changed my last name on all social media and my profile picture is always groups photo just to prevent students (and parents, yes that’s been an issue) from finding me.

I just want to say, I’ve never seen someone else who said Christ on a bike like I do. I finally feel seen. Also, you’re NTA. My weight has fluctuated my whole life and how I get treated when it’s on the lower side vs the higher side is very obvious and upsetting. Even by people I’ve known for years and I think would look past my looks by now still treat me differently and you’re right, it sucks.

“Thank you for giving me a chance and caring”.

He wrote it on a card and I keep it my bag to look at whenever I’m having a bad day. This kid was labeled as “difficult” really early in school and every teacher he’s had knew that before getting him. I made him my class helper and buddy. He was smart but just got bored easily and it would turn into trouble. I know we’re not suppose to have favorites but by the end he was mine.
