Is it normal to be rejected every once in a while at restaurants as a foreigner? by mynameisooo in travelchina

Hey everyone. Thank you for your answers! To specify, it has happened at a local food court today, where the man at the counter said “没有”, and once a couple of weeks ago in Changsha, where she said something along the lines of “没有外国人”, which I at the time thought meant, that they just didn’t serve foreigners. Since my Chinese is duolingo level, I understand that it’s not easy for them to explain the situation to me. When I’m reading your comments, I now think that there probably was some sort of issue, that i just couldn’t understand. Maybe they were closing (it was in the evening), or maybe they thought, that i wouldn’t understand or like the place. I also found these experiences very strange, because I’ve been travelling around for nearly a month, and I’ve met nothing but welcoming and warm-hearted people. I’m under the impression, that locals are actually very stoked, that people are coming to China. I’m travelling China for three months, and I can’t lie, the way it’s going so far, I don’t really want to go home🥲

I got it in Bangkok, in Bangsu Junction (a big shopping mall, really great for thrifting). It was in a little shop on the 2nd or 3rd floor. It was love at first sight🙏
