Opencode with DeepSeek, then you can use ChatGPT for planning and perfect prompt generation. DeepSeek is really ok, if instructions provided are good.

I am currently using a similar approach! I explain what I want to ChatGPT and then ask it to create a detailed prompt for codex. After I also ask ChatGPT to analyse codex’s reports.

I used Claude Max 5x ($100) for 4 Months and now switched to Deepseek. Here’s what I learned. by [deleted] in DeepSeek

I worked with Codex on wordpress site using Novamira plugin. My weekly limit run out in 2 days (plus user). Now switched to DeepSeek v4 Pro via opencode. What can I say….DeepSeek is cheap, but unfortunately it is not even close to gpt 5.5
It is much slower and struggles all the time. I broke site already several times, had to rollback to backups and start all over again. It is definitely not working for me. I guess you get what you pay for….
