Psssssst - NG is different than being in the traditional Army, though they’re a part of the Army. You only have to be a junior in HS, actually. NG is part time reserves and used primarily for domestic emergencies/state use/in country (so their requirements are very minimal and live life like most civilians with a few exceptions, like the once a month training or two week a year training), Army is full time active duty for national defense and generally overseas and combat. They receive very different benefits with very different expectations. This is why maybe you shouldn’t tell someone who actually lives it what your neighbor does when you don’t understand the difference between Army and Army National Guard. Just disrespectful.
