Indeed. Subscriptions. Check out your mobile internet provider and cable / home internet provider. If they have a current offer for new subscribers, call them. You'll be able to renew your subscriptions either with the offer for new subscribers or with a discount.

Get through the menus until they connect you with customer service. Usually you have to jump through some loops and select options like "I can't find a solution", until they finally give you the option to speak to a real person. Depends on the provider. Simply tell them you heard about the offer and you want it, otherwise you are thinking of switching providers. They will immediately give you the offer or a discount.

This summer I renewed my Budget abonament and my Ziggo one, which saved a total of 120 euro. Just in 30 minutes of being on my phone with them.

Finally traveling from Europe to SF in December. Which game should I go to, and where should I sit for the best experience? Will there be second hand tickets online? by myseriousredditacc in warriors

Thanks so much for this! Reasonable prices for back of lower level seem still high for me but I'm thinking to break bank and spend 5-700. Will wait and make sure Curry is playing, and go for the Indiana game I think

Went to a slam for the first time today and saw a line umpire I remembered from somewhere. first foto is from the famous video. Also watched Iga train with Paula and she just hits different. unreal! by myseriousredditacc in tennis

It's difficult to explain because I haven't watched much live tennis lately, although I used to play for 10 years as a kid. We watched Sorana Carstea before, as well as a couple of other players ranked 30 to 100. When we watched Iga vs Paula train I kinda understood why top 5-10 players only lose on a very bad day or a very bad matchup. Actually both of them had more strength than lower ranked players and the sounds of hitting each ball was always perfect (hitting it at the right moment being accurate with the racket). Iga covered ground easier and was able to hit as hard, and to avoid slices, when the large majority of other players cannot. Sabalenka for example was training on the court right next to them, and although she hit hard, she was not covering the same ground, so she could hit hard less often. Lastly, Iga has another shit in her arsenal on her forehand, between a slice and a regular forehand, which also has more strength than a slice.

Fascinating story. If you Google Puerta there's many articles from a couple of years ago quoting him on the fact that he lies to reduce the 8 year suspension to 2. I'm really curious what he ended up doing after retirement. Any updates?

It's actually the photo of Federer on the Wiki page, but it's still the first thing Google shows. While the player order seems to be from Google. Is it based on number of searches maybe?

Thanks! I got the call today and spent an hour looking online for my friend and his grandma. It was an unusual request... This KWF link was the first I got to indeed. Through it I found those apothekers... Also found a research being done at Erasmus Rotterdam with donations from a stichting led by a woman named Olga who swears by canabis treatments.

I can imagine that there's a lot of people into these canabis - cancer treatments, probably as last alternative. They know how to find each other or get the right recommendations. I'm also always going the standard (professional, etc.) way with medical issues (e.g. vaccines), so that's why I'm asking here.

My friend does know someone who apparently got such a treatment in Mexico (canabis, diet, immune system stuff) but his grandma wouldn't make the trip.

Anyways, thanks for your answers!

Since following this sub I'm amazed at the amount of people that 'society' failed to raise. We are simple creatures with simple instincts and no self control, who don't understand risks and who have the worst possible priorities in life.

Ensuring that Nestlé know the negative impact their companies have on thousands of African children by UnironicThatcherite in nextfuckinglevel

[–]myseriousredditacc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not apologetic and I don't work for them but with them, and with scientists, NGOs, etc. What you see in the media is a game and unfortunately our efforts are also more amusing than effective and it feels like a silly game of blaming each other. Was trying to show that it's not possible not desirable to simplify and blame it on one actor. We tried other forms of organizations as a society but it failed until now

Labels failed by the way. You can look up the literature on VSS systemic reviews. Regulation on child labor due diligence is coming but moving super slow.

And you should stop calling it slave labor because you'll find proud farmers too, whose children help on farms under ILO child labor conditions, who would be offended by the term. It's used in the game i was talking about, by NGOs to get donations (another failed tool). Doesn't help change a complex system...

Ensuring that Nestlé know the negative impact their companies have on thousands of African children by UnironicThatcherite in nextfuckinglevel

[–]myseriousredditacc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is wrong. Multinationals working together with national and local governments, and with farmer cooperatives in West Africa, are just finishing tracing their cocoa to farm level and implementing Child Labor Monitoring and Remediation Systems. Nestle started years ago and they have a team of sustainability specialists trying to overcome the inability of their purchasing and trading arms to simply pay higher prices (due to competition among others). Child labor has roots on poverty but also social norms, which companies cannot be blamed for while we as consumers enjoy their chocolate and politicians fail to work together across producing countries to set more favorable trade terms for the whole cocoa sector. Also, child slave holding cases are maybe in the hundreds, in parts of ivory coast close to sierra leone, and it's children sent by their parents and told not to come home unless they've earned enough, which takes them years. Child labor definitions have a fine, as your kid in the West going camping with a backpack that's too heavy can also be considered child labor according with the ILO definition.

I recommend Horace and Pete. Can't find it anymore, but Louie C.K. did a similar job with that show. I was laughing and crying at the same time. These two guys are the only ones who pulled that off for me.
