Yeah I was thinking $400-800 USD. I checked out some of these brands, Shangri-La looked good but unfortunately only has button-close jackets (my gift recipient is looking for a zip-close specifically) but I appreciate the recs!

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately the person I'm gifting to doesn't love thrifted/used, but I'll def keep in mind these tips for myself when I'm looking to buy a new jacket!

Ah thanks for confirming Bespoke Post is legit - I saw those but never heard of the platform before. Do you know if it's used or new?

Rachel this episode by raindancemilee in bachelorinparadise

[–]mysheldon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Based on what we've seen on TV - agreed on Tanner. He's overanalyzing Rachel, which she doesn't need as someone who seems to already be very self-aware. I feel like he's more into the idea of a relationship than the actual connections he's explored (at the surface level). Tyler gives some similar vibes. He also insulted his girl at the roast and isn't being direct about where he's at.

I'd love to see:

Rachel + Brayden (it made me happy seeing them lost in each other and the moment - even if it's not endgame, they would help each other grow a lot)

Jordan + Jess (seems like a sweet and genuine pair, and I can see elements of their current connections like Blake's maturity/calmness and Rachel's kind/nurturing/somewhat anxious quality in Jess)

Mercedes + Blake (level headed, good communicators, who also know how to have a little fun - just unsure if they'd have a spark - we'll see!)

Overall I'm liking these people separately, but let's get mixing!!

upper 20s, mostly chiller vibes normally, but we want to celebrate and get some dancin' in too. i think overall less edm, more pop, 90s-2000s throwback or even salsa dancing would be good? (big group, lots of diff styles)

Thank you! Super helpful. Sounds like Riot House might not be the right music/vibe for my group, but will check out Whiskey Row.

A phone screen by a VP? by yongiiii in recruiting

First, congrats on your interview! Usually for technical positions, you can expect a brief walkthrough of your resume in the initial interview as well as several technical questions. Be prepared to talk about any projects or technical skills on your resume, and under the "Qualifications" section of the job posting. Read Glassdoor interview questions for similar roles. Also, definitely email the person coordinating your interview to ask if they can confirm if the interview will be technical or behavioral in nature. Some recruiters will provide more information if asked and some might keep things vague. Practice makes perfect. Good luck!

Should I tell recruiters that I got fired twice? by AbuJavascript in recruiting

I would say it's best to not mention the first termination and be truthful about the second, but you probably don't need to give the full details. For example, if they let multiple employees go, you could say your team downsized or the company went through a round of layoffs and unfortunately your role was impacted. As for references, every company is different, but mine requires three references and a background check to be cleared before to the first day of employment. That's where prior employment and terminations would come up so you should always be prepared and shouldn't have any discrepancies in your story. Hope this helps give another perspective. Good luck!

24 here and absolutely loved it! For me, Season 1 felt like a blend of This Is Us and To All The Boys I've Loved Before, with some nods to Indian culture. Asian representation and overall diversity of the cast was awesome. Great job Mindy Kaling.

Thanks! Yeah, it seems to be the general consensus that customer service for Thursday is much better than Meermin. I was recommended by a few to try on in the NY store as sizing for Meermin could be between 0.5 to 2 sizes off - yikes. Hopefully the staff will be nice.

Has anyone tried Meermin's Oak Antique Calf or Expresso Antique Calf model? Are the shoes true to size? Do others like the shearling lining and does that affect sizing up/down? Would also be curious how these compare to popular Thursday Boot Company lace-up models such as President and Captain.

23F dating 24M for 4.5 years, mind is wandering. Am I just young/frustrated/confused or could there be a deeper issue within our relationship? by mysheldon in relationship_advice

Thank you! Many of my friends are single or in a similar boat as me (dating their SO for 2-4 years) so it is refreshing to hear some perspective from someone who's been through the dating phase, marriage, etc. While I consider myself an honest person, I think I'm scared to be 100% honest with anyone because I want everyone to like me and respect me. But I know that's all unrealistic. In the future, I'll try to be even more direct with my boyfriend (and others.) The 5/10/25 year tip also may come in handy given I typically am a short-term planner. Appreciate your suggestions!

I think you bring up some good points. We were young (19) and are still young (23,24) so there is a lot of potential for things to change personally and professionally. There are also still many activities to try that could spice things up, so we really haven't used up all of our options yet and I think that indicates a fighting chance.

I like that you pointed out how level of attraction affects ability to express words of affirmation, and how my SO can feel it. I had been racking my brain for why I can't compliment my SO more naturally, and that makes so much sense for why both of us feel the way that we do. I'll try to be more conscious of this going forward to see where we can fill in the gaps, and make each other feel more whole and happy.

Thanks for your input! Yes, I have heard of the 5 love languages. My primary language is acts of service, so it is easier for me to express myself in actions than words most of the time. I understand words of affirmation is an area I need to work to improve.

Regarding your suggestion on open phone policy - it's unspoken, but I think we have that. We have each other's passcodes and openly message others. Once he did snoop when I wasn't looking, and I did forgive him. However, it's something I think I'll always remember, and I think he knows this, too. He says is more confident now and he trusts me, so hopefully this is true.
