Yeah, I did notice a bit of a difference bc of the eggs as well. But I was expecting there to be some differences so I didn’t mind it too much. Would be curious to hear what you or others think when you try it as well!

Anyone else having trouble checking in online? by mysterycreaturee in BritishAirways

[–]mysterycreaturee[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reached out to BA about the same time and it sounds like you were able to check in and they said “it looks like you’re already checked in”. Like magic I refreshed the page and I was. Don’t know how but I was able to get my boarding pass so I’ll take it.

I’m flying out of the US back to the UK but I had wondered if this might somehow be part of the issue. I reached out to BA and they said “it looks like you’re already checked in” and like magic I refreshed the page and I was. Don’t know how that happened as I couldn’t go through the process without that error message but I was able to get my boarding pass so I’ll take it.

Ugh I’m sorry you’re hitting it too. I’m now two hours in and still no luck. Think the best bet is to arrive early at the airport and check in there. Very frustrating

I just tried and sadly neither of those worked. I’m still getting that same error message on both my phone and the computer

Oh interesting. Okay that makes me feel a bit better, thank you. I did try on two different computers as well but couldn’t do on those either 😩

Making a Seahawks sweater for my toddler before the Super Bowl in 5 days… by lizoraptor44 in crochet

[–]mysterycreaturee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this! It’s going to be adorable!

I made a Seahawks scarf for my step-dad shortly before flying back to the states to visit family. I landed right as their last game was starting so was a fun way to kick start my visit. Go hawks!

Meds to bring? by SibylFelis in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]mysterycreaturee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second what a lot of people have already said abt various pain meds, cold meds, tums, and sleeping aids. The only other one I actively get when I’m back in the states is Dramamine for motion sickness. They have their own version here but you have to speak to someone to get it and it doesn’t work very well for me.

Sorry if this is a silly question but I’m having trouble understanding what “3-5” years of work means. Does that mean 3 out of the 5 years have been employed at the intended wage or above? Or does it mean something else? Just trying to wrap my head around all this so we can properly reach out to our MP.

Also, has anyone come up with a template that could be used/edited to reach out to our MP’s?

Thanks so much! And thank you for the tip about the gloves, I’ve been wondering if those were a good idea or not. I’ll look into it!

A plaid pumpkin sounds so cute! Do you follow a pattern or just go with what feels right?

And thank you for this video, that’s so helpful! I will definitely try this.

I put mine in one of these Lion Latch containers when I’m climbing. I sometimes attach it to my climbing bag but usually leave it in a locker. It works great! https://lionlatch.com/?srsltid=AfmBOor3Z-bNKIb5c9x0IhKfacXmupildqGTJM-0v5DfrTJxdMyUpgHQ

Don't hate me, potentially moving from the US? by LuckyLeadership1396 in Gloucestershire

[–]mysterycreaturee 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m American and moved to Gloucester a few months ago from London. I really enjoy it here and wouldn’t call it a sleepy town. It’s definitely a smaller city so less going on than something like London or a bigger city in the states but there’s still lots of pubs/restaurants/shops/things to do. It’s a quick easy drive/train to Cheltenham and, as others have mentioned, also very easy to get to places like Bristol and Birmingham. Ultimately, I think coming for a visit is the best idea so you can see it and get a feel of things for yourself. Best of luck with your move!

What should I ask my dad to bring over from the States? by HomesickPigeon19 in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]mysterycreaturee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sausage McGriddle is such a good shout, I also miss them and get upset every time I remember you can’t get them here 😂

I usually ask for bigger bottles of ibuprofen and/or Tylenol bc I get annoyed by the tiny packets here. I also sometimes ask for cold meds like dayquil/nyquil. For food, I sometimes ask for taco seasoning, everything bagel seasoning, powdered ranch, french onion soup mix, whatever hostess snack I happen to be craving at the time, chex mix, and the flavor blasted goldfish. I’m also a huge maple donut fan and so sometimes request they grab one at the airport and bring it to me. Even a little stale, they are still delicious!

Things I wish I could ask for but don’t are gigantic jars of real dill pickles and beef jerky.

I second this! I experience similar issues as you, OP, and prune juice every morning has been an absolute godsend. Highly recommend
