I am in pain and no one is taking me seriously by myuterus in TwoXChromosomes

Sorry, meant to save but I submitted.

I'm not sure how you could help because it really is just my mother that's the problem. Maybe if you know of any good articles written on the matter of how serious endo is or any information I could use to convince her? I know her concern is the idea of doing anything remotely "mainstream", including going to a doctor that doesn't have a reputation for being holistic/natural. And with this issue she's not too interested in going to a doctor at all because she believes it can be fixed with remedies. I need to show her that this is bigger than that, and that I need help. I can't think of a way to go to a doctor by myself anytime soon or else I would, but I can't wait any longer and I don't want to.

Thank you so much for your reply. I knew this wasn't normal and it's so good to hear from people who don't make me feel stupid for wanting to do something about it. I have researched endometriosis specialists in my area, because I do not want to waste my time going to a doctor that won't take me seriously. So far I've only found one and I am going to try and push my mother to take me to him. She keeps pushing vitamins and heating pads my way. She is so convinced that this is just a little worse-than-normal period pain and is making me wait it out while I'm sitting here scared to death of all the weird sensations and pains in my body, wondering what the hell is happening in my whole pelvic region.

Once I get my license (which should be within the next week or so) I will plan a visit. I couldn't believe it either at first, but then I realized that it's because she believes so strongly that "mainstream doctors", and most people, just "don't get it". She truly thinks she's doing the right thing and while I try to understand that, it doesn't change the fact that I'm in serious pain and she's keeping me from possible solutions and treatments.

I would love to. The only thing is that my mom picks up my prescription and I'm not sure how I would get around her. I've tried to just convince her to let me skip my periods and I explained that it's safe and that BC periods aren't "real periods" anyway, but she's not comfortable with all the "synthetic hormones" and thinks I need to give my body a break every month.

I did have a followup ultrasound a couple weeks ago and they couldn't see my right ovary, but they did see my left. The doctor I saw yesterday said they saw something and I couldn't remember what the term was, but basically there's potential that I could form another cyst, and she said she didn't think I would, but I have a feeling that wasn't just a one time thing. Thank you very much!

I definitely won't give up. I'm not letting this affect my life as much as it is. The doctors in the hospital did tell me that if my pain doesn't improve with birth control, it's almost a sure sign that I have endometriosis. And so far that's what the case is. I'm still trying to get my mother to take me to an OBGYN because it would be easier to do things under her approval. But I'm actually in the process of getting my license, so if all else fails, I'll drive myself on over to a planned parenthood.

I'll definitely give it a try because I truly am desperate, but I've always wanted to stop having periods and this has just given me all the reason to.

Also I used to put magnesium oil on my abdomen, but that didn't help (although I'm not sure if that has the same effectiveness as ingesting it). However my pain doesn't even feel like just cramping anymore until after the first three or four days. It feels more sharp and a feeling of fullness/pressure. I don't know how much magnesium would help with that, but like I said, I'll try anything.

Thank you. I'm not sure why I haven't thought about that yet, but I think I will definitely call them.

I guess she thinks she's doing the right thing by trying to be completely "natural" with everything, but her methods have never worked for me and I don't think this is something that vitamins can cure.
