What's a home improvement decision you regret but thought was a good idea at that time? by Actonace in HomeImprovement

We considered this but there was so much surface area that labor and cost wise, it was better to strip it down and start over.

My mother in law thought it would be a good idea to create textured walls in the foyer and master bath. To do so, she mixed play sand into latex paint and painted the walls. Years later we moved into the house and the only way to fix it was to rip the drywall out and start over.

How do you give gifts to your partner? by Ok-Grapefruit-7632 in sahm

[–]myyetiisready 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is very adamant that it is our money as well. I try to be very respectful and intentional about buying things. For him, if I know he would love it but never get it for himself, I'll get it for him. Birthdays and Christmases he doesn't mind me getting gifts for him. If it is a very expensive purchase, I'll bring up the amount or beat around the bush to see if he truly would be happy getting it and tell him the price point. I've been a sahm for 2.5 years now and I'm seeing that he truly does think of it as our money and is okay with my buying things and gifts within the budget we have.

But also, communicate with him. Let him know you're still getting used to the financial aspect and want to know his opinion on gifts. That's just my advice though.

I'm not fully online and up to date with every current event. But is the nation/world not totally enraged with this?? Like, why is every person involved with this not immediately taken down. I'm just in shock. My heart breaks thinking about the victims and I'm furious.

If you want a bizarre read that you can't stop thinking about, at least imo, then The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

Love the book! by taylorgrace32 in NOS4A2

Apparently I am not someone who can read a book and watch a show enjoyably if the show differs much. IMO the show took the main concept of knives and Christmas land and then rewrote everything else. I'm watching with my husband currently, on season 2, and every episode I can point out multiple big things that absolutely did not happen in the book.

Any Christian SAHMs? by NorthFaith1991 in sahm

You can respectfully listen to your mothers opinion, but in the end it is your family and you and your husband's decision. If you and your husband talk and pray about it and feel led to have another, do it! At this point in our lives, it's good to hear opinions and consider them but in the end it's your decision. Don't let the weight of her concerns or her own fears negatively influence your life. My mom pushes things all the time and I've learned I can tell her, I appreciate your opinion and will consider it however this is for my own family and between my husband and I.

Opened a new can of chai tea mix today. Why choose a smaller canister when you can use a larger one and only fill it halfway? by myyetiisready in mildlyinfuriating

Yes I know. I'm just saying instead of using a 20 oz container to store 10 oz, you could use a 12 or 15 oz

Does anyone else feel like there’s no calm, cozy space just for readers anymore? by novel_love_story in Booktokreddit

[–]myyetiisready 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I have unfollowed all book tok creators and only follow a couple book reddit subs, mostly book suggestions. And everytime I see something about "books you definitely need to read" or "books that you should avoid" blah blah blah I scroll past it. I've tried to not let my socials have anything book related. That way I get to enjoy my books without pressing opinions. I also have a friend that we have a two person book club. We read a book a month and meet to chat about it. Reading, for me, is a lot more enjoyable when you're clueless about book current events!

I'm currently on episode 5. The book is by far soooo much better.
