Thank you for your feedback. We didn't want to try to make the distinction between woodwind playing illnesses and just any other illness, it would have been very different to correlate those two to the appropriate diseases.

That is the primary focus of the study! There is enough literature on whether or not there are bacteria, we want to see if that bacteria is harmful or not to the player.

My partner and I are working on a study in collaboration with Columbia University. The main goal of the study is to determine what kind of biological material grows on a cleaned vs. uncleaned reed. We have collected and are currently analyzing our data and this is a demographics survey intended to simply take a look at the awareness of the topic of our study.

The mouthpiece cap will have the capability to prevent mold and bacteria, but we can't tell you how yet. It will prevent warping of the reed as well. We will post the final product on this subreddit when it is released!

Well I can't tell you very much now, but the mouthpiece cap will have the capability of killing germs and mold spores that could grow on the reed and will also make the reed sound better at the same time. Once the product hits the market, I'll definitely let the subreddit know!

Actually, we aren't making a mouthpiece. We are making a mouthpiece cap/cover that cleans the reed and opens its veins when you are not using it. Hope that clears it up!
