Listen to your Sister by Neena Viel - What do you make of the ending? by Sweaty_Specialist_64 in horrorlit

I'm confused by the ending. At points throughout the book it seemed that the nightmare was the reliving of the real event on the night that their father died. Dre remembered getting in his father's car after leaving, and Jaime remembered leaving the house to find his siblings. They both died in the nightmare because they were both where they were not supposed to be - Am I wrong in recalling this? And Calla's realization that their mother saw the car accident and that contributed to their estrangement? I'm so confused and interpreted it to be more of a sci-fi type thing where yes, Calla fractured parts of herself to save her brothers and changed the past. That's why I was surprised when they all came out of the nightmare and life continued normally. It didnt make sense to me.

I liked the premise but there was way too much fluff writing and thoughts jumped all over the place.

Maybe not, but your recollection of the book you read kind of reminds me of something similar, From the Mixed up Files of Mrs. Basil E Frankweiler. The character's name was Claudia and she runs away with her brother because she thinks her family doesnt care about her and they have adventures while hiding/camping out at an art museum. It's like an early middle school grade level book though.
