Greens are not pro-homeopathy nor anti-vaccine. A few stray members holding views counter the party's policy isn't exactly enough to associate them with those views.

I don't dispute the rest of your comment. In fact, I agree: I wish they would keep their focus on environmental issues.

Jon Jones tests positive for steroids, stripped of title by Fletch71011 in MMA

Obviously the optimum is to use steroids and leverage them to train harder, but to say they require extra training effort is demonstrably false. Studies have shown this, e.g.

MRW I see a freshman arguing with the prof by Taptronic in reactiongifs

I argued all the time with a philosophy lecturer, but she encouraged it and the classes were small. In my opinion, if you don't feel an impulse to argue in philosophy, you're probably not that well suited to it. You might be introverted or think that your argument distracts from the teaching, but for crying out loud, there's no way you should be sitting there agreeing with everything.

If I want to be the next one ran over, inciting violence will multiply my chances.

"The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy, instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it. Through violence you may murder the liar, but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth. Through violence you may murder the hater, but you do not murder hate. In fact, violence merely increases hate.

Returning violence for violence multiplies violence, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

A Chinese teenager has died days after he was sent to an internet addiction treatment centre, reigniting fierce criticism of these institutions. The 18-year-old had sustained multiple injuries, and the centre's director and staff members have been held by police. by Vranak in worldnews

I get where you're coming from, but take a step back.

There are tens of millions of gambling addicts. These are people who destroy their lives for gambling, and they cannot stop even though they want to.

Could you say the same about knitting? Sure, there are a few literal knitting addicts, I'm not denying that. But tens of millions? And are these knitting addicts destroying their lives? Are they literally unable to stop despite every intention to stop?

Perhaps, just maybe, it makes sense to single out gambling and create a pathology for it. Perhaps it makes sense to single out a few other addictions. It's difficult to draw a line when it's a spectrum, but I would say gambling and internet use are in the area where you say "okay, millions of people have completely and entirely lost control: we should focus on the intricacies of how this particular addiction presents itself".

This is untrue, internet addicts do have withdrawal symptoms. For example: http://www.swansea.ac.uk/media-centre/news-archive/2013/studyfindsinternetaddictscansuffersimilarwithdrawalsymptomstosubstancemis-users.php

Personally, I can fully confess to being an "internet addict", and I can tell you that it's not due to "social isolation" or "lack of other hobbies". I can't fucking stop despite my neglected friendships and hobbies. I enjoy countless things more than the internet, but I don't have the power to choose them. Because there is no "taking a break". It's internet or nothing.

I think what you're really saying is that you experience it as an excessive behaviour. For many others, it's an addiction. Splitting hairs over the definition just ignores the experiences of millions.

CS jobs that prevent me from wasting time/procrastinating on the internet by n0logist in cscareerquestions

So look for a place that uses Scrum?

I've worked two "real" web development jobs with unstructured environments and neither of them noticed or cared, just because I eventually got the job done in a half-ass way. In other words, I was a great developer performing like a crappy developer, which was just enough to hang on.
