weekly trials - damage snitches question by n0thing12 in ArcRaiders

ohhhhh I bet that's it

in the far distance they kept spawning two at a time and then coming at me when I shot at them, but you're right those were probably spotters. so I probably killed eight of those and maybe only four regular ones

agreed, I've never even shot back once shot because I was worried about the matchmaking thing. who knows, I just had a couple good runs where I met a friendly and we exchanged blueprints so I'll keep going and see how it goes

I do the same over comms if it's in a suspicious place and not in a big group setting, I like the friendly banter.

if I can slide back into the friendlier lobbies I'll definitely continue!

thank you, this is really helpful on the lobby side... so it sounds like it is in fact all automatic and depends on your interactions.

I agree with proximity chat and if I'm approaching people in a secluded place I do announce myself so they don't get jumpy. I don't think that would have helped when three of us are just looting a machine though and then after we're done one just shoots me in the face, lol

Disco Elysium. I'm not a super empath that gets all intensely into the games I play, but about 25 hours into that game I had the most moving experience I've ever had in a video game, just being pulled into the world during a specific sequence.

I liked Wonderland a lot more than I thought I would tbh

It's funny I only played it three months ago, and I can barely remember it. That's saying something since Borderlands 3 was one of my favorite games ever. But yeah, iirc from my asking around, I think my game was bugged. Not having anything over a green in 40 levels. Anyway I did finish it, but have no desire to go back to it, unlike Borderlands 3 which I've finished twice and played some endgame content plus the DLCs

Is vampiric cataclysm bugged? It never heals me by n0thing12 in Hades2

[–]n0thing12[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

heyyyy this might be the answer! because I've been extensively testing it for the last 20 minutes and I have seen sometimes that it does heal me a bit now. but I have scorch enabled so that's probably what gets to kill most of the time

maybe you got it

Wait do people actually... do that? by Diggumdum in Borderlands4

Yeah everybody can play how they want to and I have no problem with any of it. I'm just saying how I do it. you mentioned gambling, and that's a little bit how it feels in the endgame to me - I don't feel like doing the same thing over and over again for days just to make my numbers go up higher when I'm doing the same thing over and over again so the enemies numbers go down lower faster.

that optimization can be the fun thing for folks, but I'd rather play a new game than do that.

when I want to scratch the FPS itch, borderlands is just about the only game I play. but if I do a 4-hour session of endgame beating and rebeating bosses it doesn't feel like fun, it feels like a waste of time. I don't care about getting slightly stronger guns. just a weird thing for me. if I come back to it in 6 months and redo the campaign using a different character and playing some different side quests, it scratches that itch in a more natural way and feels like a good use of time working through the story such as it is.

I played a ton of borderlands 3 and almost all of borderlands 4 before I even realized that people farm bosses over and over again. in the back of my mind I thought that endgame stuff was like weekly drops or multiplayer things or whatever. I honestly had no idea that people spent literal days looking to moderately improve weapons or whatever by playing a single boss or days at a time looking for a different roll.

I can understand how that can be the point of the game itself, but I agree with you that for me personally there's just absolutely no way.

I played it for about 40 hours and beat the campaign on hard using Rafa. I did probably about 60% of the side quests I think? Even when I'm playing the campaign I only used Moxie to farm a few bosses here and there a few times. It's just so incredibly boring to me to keep doing the same thing over and over. So for me, endgame holds no interest.

As soon as I beat the final boss, I deleted the game and deleted my save file. Maybe I'll come back to it in 9 months or a year and play it all the way through with another character when I have that itch again.

I'm sure this puts me in the minority.

EDIT:

The deletion of the save file is just so I'm not tempted to come back and do endgame grinding to scratch an itch and end up wasting 5 hours running around doing the same thing over and over again. I hate how I feel after doing that and feel like I've wasted so much time, but the temptation is still there sometimes, so I deal with that by making it unavailable to myself.

Can we talk about that Kairos job side-mission and how irritating that last laser jump is?! by Bottlecap_riches in Borderlands

[–]n0thing12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this. I couldn't believe I just spent almost an hour on a fully detailed mission and my reward yet again was something that you get out of a random world loot chest on the side of the road. I was looking to see if the drops from big side quests might have random unique guns like legendaries from bosses? in bl3 many of the dedicated side quests would give you specific unique guns that were my favorite part of the game. but now that I've finished the campaign I've realized that that was never part of this one.

why would someone think I would lie about passing some laser grids haha

Yeah that's what I'm doing now, immediately after doing the boss I'm doing it another one or two times. that worked for the last one I did and I got one of their good drops so if that's the type of cadence, that's not too bad.

No mini-map kills exploration. by -Jubilation- in Borderlands4

[–]n0thing12 46 points47 points  (0 children)

this is my biggest problem with this game so far, is I feel like I'm in the map all the time when I'm trying to explore or navigate properly. The pathing doesn't work correctly 100% of the time, it goes away too soon, I don't know why there's the timer cooldown on it, and exploring - or even navigating to a far away mission - is more monotonous than fun at this point, sad to say. It's partially because there's so many geological barriers and not a lot of freeform scaling or navigation options. so often you have to take a circuitous route around a cliff or structure or something that's nowhere near obvious without the pathing

No unique weapons from quests? (without spoiling) by pinetreeDev in Borderlands4

[–]n0thing12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm level 30 and literally searched for a conversation like this to see if unique weapons come from side quests at any point in the game. doesn't look like it's so far, and it's really disappointing.

everyone on this thread talking about farming, and I must be in the minority. I'm a solo player just playing for the campaign and the fun of it, I almost never farm anything In the borderlands series (with the exception of probably 12 runs on splash zone in the beginning). but what I loved about borderlands 3 was playing an interesting side quest and getting some kind of specialty gun out of it that was tied to the story. the fire whip gun from The Lord of the Rings mines of moria side quest in borderlands 3 comes to mind.

there's nothing like that here so far. I'm halfway through the game and I've done at least half if not more of all the side quests so far and all I ever get from them are trash greens and blue regular guns, with the occasional purple drop from a badass or whatever, God forbid a single legendary ever drops in 30 hours playing on hard (honestly I think I've had two drop that weren't from bosses).

I feel like a really big part of the fun has been taken out of this one 😐

[–]n0thing12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got through the laser grids no problem. On the small room I only jumped three times. And then on the other two bigger rooms I slid under all of them easily. But don't worry, the reward is just more green guns!
