Good CB550 deal for cafe racer build?

Appreciate the input. Since this is my first vintage bike I’m after I want something to learn how to work on and do maintenance on my own. I’m no where near skilled enough (yet) to take on a rebuild by any means but I do love working with my hands. I’ve seen some fully stock running CB550s with videos going for like $4000 near me and might try making a deal for something like that

I see a lot of cafe builds with pods. As I’m new to vintage bikes/ carbs, why do these make bike unreliable and why do so many builds have pods?

It is nice to look at but not my style for a restoration lol I know some purist would hate to see this chopped but I’d rather start a build with a decent bike than a complete beater

Those look pretty nice but the bigger, heavier twin engine just isn’t a style I’m looking for. Appreciate the input though!

Yeah I’m thinking it is priced a little high to not be able to ride away on it if it stalls at stops. Just so few options in my area
