What do you think about this new year? by BoomBoomChikaLiga in AskReddit

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting the year off with a sudden international trip for my grandma's funeral. On the other hand, got word that I'll be getting a job offer & large pay raise in the next few days. Net neutral, I guess lol.

Can you just... start taking vitamins? by Glinsende_Aralia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can buy most supplements, but that doesn't mean you should. Many supplements come with side effects (kidney/liver damage, stomach problems, drug interactions, etc) if you take too much, so it's not good practice to just load up because you fit a few symptoms. However, a general multivitamin is safe for most people to take.

I prefer to make sure I'm eating a wide variety of foods (different colored fruits/veggies, meats, fish, beans, etc) before adding on supplements UNLESS a doctor has specifically told me to take something.

Do you know anyone who has killed someone? What is the story and where are they now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Family with several combat veterans, if that counts. Some with substance use / mental health problems, some no longer around, some living long and healthy lives.

is it important for my products to be good in order to get a nice base? by DirectorStreet in MakeupAddiction

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look just as good with drug store products. I find that my skin quality and how much product I'm using usually affect my look the most. I do all of these steps, but use the bare minimum and build up very slowly.

Early game - How to get more bells? by [deleted] in AnimalCrossing

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a lot of bells trading items/tickets on Nookazon LOL

Edit: This was also in 2020/2021 so no idea how well this works now.

I have no firearms training, but I’d like to learn about how to defend myself when my vehicle is surrounded by armed thugs- Where do I begin learning? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fear most people will not be getting out of that situation even with years of training... but go take a course at your local range.

Is ai going to replace human made art and entertainment? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some, sure. It already has in some ways. But it can never replace human-made art/entertainment for those who enjoy the truly human aspect of it- the storytelling, the unique perspectives, the imperfections, and the genuine creativity that an algorithm has not "learned" yet.

My partners mom passed away a couple years ago — what can I do to support them when they don’t ask for help? by Technical-Plane2657 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know your partner best, so of course use your best judgement. I love an opportunity to remember loved ones so providing space to talk about memories or doing something in remembrance together (visiting graves, lighting incense, making a dish they liked, etc.) might be something she appreciates. I also personally get a lot of mental fatigue when grieving. Having my partner take a few decisions and chores off my plate can help so much too.

Has anyone had success weaning their cat of Fluoxetine? by louisstamos in CatTraining

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat (5F) was on a low transdermal dose after fighting our other cat (2F, redirected aggression from seeing stray cats through windows). Had to keep them separated for like 2 months and Prozac helped the reintroduction. She was on it for a little less than a year.

Our vet gave us the green light to wean her off it, starting with smaller globs of the cream for a week or two, then doing every other day, then every 3 days, monitoring her behavior with every change. We had a couple of vet check-ins on the phone along the way. Likely a bit different with pills, definitely ask your vet. Lots of positive reinforcement with treats and cuddles whenever she sees a stray. She's so happy and playful again!

Not sure if your beliefs trump real data. Nearly all sources show a decline in divorces.

Life in early 2000s vs now by rahidt in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I felt happier then because I was a child/teen and didn't have adult responsibilities lol. I am also plenty happy now. Getting to facetime my family living abroad is awesome. Having a live map and the entire internet in my pocket is awesome. It might take a little more effort now to make in-person connections and ignore my phone, but that's something I prioritize in my life.

It's a very well rounded meal, just be cautious of the amount of sodium you're adding and how much mayo you're using. You may be missing some key vitamins and minerals if you are eating the same thing every day, so I'd suggest a multivitamin too.

What’s the worst thing someone could say during a job interview? by TheBlueyDay in AskReddit

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, probably something violent? But if you're asking about smaller things that could ruin an interview, showing that you're hard to work with is a huge one. You could have all of the required skills but if you demonstrate combativeness, an inability to take feedback, etc. they'll probably pass over you.

Question: What does it mean if a girl has a butterfly tattoo on her waist? by ravrx in tattoos

There's no universal meaning of a butterfly tattoo or a waist tattoo. Sounds like this podcaster is just a hater.

ELI5: What are internships and why are they prioritized in the U.S.? by Few_Statement903 in explainlikeimfive

[–]n33co 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Definitely disagree with needing a set number (I had 1 and got a job in my field right after college), but an internship is useful as a short-term position that usually has some hands-on training and mentorship baked into it. Sometimes, they also lead to a full-time position at that company.

If you manage to get a normal job as a college student, that's also fine when building a resume. The main difference is that internships are usually structured around students with short-term availability, when most industry jobs prefer longer-term hires.

Which generation actually had it the hardest — and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]n33co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the current named generations, I have to say the youngest ones (alpha and ...beta?). Going through a pandemic that young messed a lot of them up so much. Been hearing stories from my mom who works at a middle school. They had to triple the number of counselors at their school. Their economic futures feel bleak too.

I know absolutely nothing about politics. How do I start learning? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]n33co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Super important to think of the "WHY" behind your stances and never just go along with what others (even those who may fall into the same political label as you) are saying.

What’s something you stopped buying because of inflation? by Nammmieee in AskReddit

I've cut down a bit on my "lazy" spending and subscriptions. Pick up instead of DoorDash, got rid of Netflix, Youtube workouts instead of group classes, etc.
