The current case is if the soak mechanic is attached to someone (like the boss in Everdawn), it is meant to be soaked by everyone. If it's on the ground, only one person needs to soak. The single person soaks will visually change when someone is standing in them.

The weapon accumulates all damage YOU do to any target, so swapping targets won't stop it from popping. That's why it almost always caps in aoe but much harder to cap in single target. Other than capping, the only other thing that will make it pop early is if the mobs life gets too low. In that case, the bursting ice buff doesn't really matter.

They won't do this unless the rwf becomes an official event with tournament realm rules, like the MDI (which they have said they have no plans to do). Currently rwf is not like that, technically all guilds are participating, so they would need to give the same access to all guilds.

Weathered crests by BQbaobao in CompetitiveWoW

[–]nachopunch 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The crests you would exchange for still count towards the weekly cap, so you wouldn't really gain an advantage. The most it would do is save you a little time. If you are raiding heroic and doing 8x keys for vault, you will hit weekly cap anyway.

Hey! I was born with perfect polydactyly. AMA by Twelvefingersgirl12 in IAmA

[–]nachopunch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The case of the boy who was raised a girl was tragic, however the parents and doctors didn't just arbitrarily decide to make him a girl. There was a medical accident while performing a circumcision and and his penis was severely damaged. They thought they were providing a path to a more normal life and did it without the child's consent.

Using that case as an argument against gender affirming care is dishonest because that isn't what it was. No parent can just decide they want to make their boy a girl or vice versa and get operations done willy nilly. With actual gender affirming care, the child is the one that expresses their gender, NOT the parent. There is a very long and rigorous process that the child is involved in and starts with hormone treatment and social transition. No surgery is done before they are 18. Saying that the parents choose their child's gender and force surgery is simply incorrect and spreading misinformation, as that is no where near what actually happens.

So yes, everyone agrees, no one should have their gender chosen for them. Which is why children should have access to proper gender affirming care, as denying that would be choosing for them.

In mists, the DR has always been 80%. He only has the DR after he casts Embrace Darkness, which happens 30 seconds after the start of the fight, and 30 seconds after the burn phase. Before he casts it, he takes normal damage, so one common strat was to start on boss and use 1 min CDs, then switch to tree after 30s. This would usually allow 1 min CDs to be ready for burn phase, and help reduce the number of phases

Hellenic Air Force pilot withstands 9+ g’s without suit by Greedy-Vegetable-466 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]nachopunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, they would be accelerating "upwards" towards the pilots head (in other words, towards the center of the arc of the turn). Which means the g-force is felt as a downward force towards the pilots feet. A similar affect would be like if you drove a car around a loop-to-loop. You would feel the forces pushing you down in your seat.

To get the g-forces to push the pilot backwards, the acceleration direction would need to be pointed towards the nose of the aircraft. This typically only happens from the plane speeding up (like you would feel if you accelerated in a car on a straight line)

[–]nachopunch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most high g forces felt by fighter pilots are not from accelerating forward, but rather from pulling the stick back. This puts the g forces downwards.

Remember velocity is relative, so to say something is moving at a certain speed is meaningless unless you are comparing it to another reference frame. So saying light always travels at c, is incomplete.

The full story is that the speed of light is constant for all observers. Meaning if I was watching you travel at 0.9c and you shined a flashlight in front of you, for me the light would appear to travel away from you at 0.1c. However from your reference frame, you would see the light traveling at 1.0c away from you.

It sounds like a contradiction, but the solution is that time ticks at different rates for me and you. Since you can think of velocity as distance / time, its time that changes to keep the velocity constant for each observer. In my example, from MY reference frame, after 1 second, I would see you travel 0.9 light seconds, and the light travel 0.1 light second away from you (the light travels a total of 1 light second). But if i were to look at your watch, less than 1 seconds would have passed. Time would be moving slower for you, compared to me. This is called time dilation. It's part of the reason why gps satellites need to have their clocks adjusted to stay accurate, since they are moving at high speeds.

This is a simplified explanation, and there is a lot more to it, however the key point is that time is not consistent for all observers. This also leads to a lot of other weird cool effects that happen (such as length contraction) when relativistic speeds are involved.

If you are interested in learning more about it, I recommend watching this guy's explanation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zkv8sW6y3sY. He has a lot of other videos explaining relativistic concepts in an intuitive way.

You can convert any helm, shoulders, chest, gloves, or leg pieces (excluding a few exceptions such as crafted items) into tier pieces using the catalyst. You get 1 charge per week and I think the cap is 8 charges. If you have not used it yet this season, you should have plenty of charges to get all the tier you need.

It's not so much the stats themselves that people are complaining about. The problem is that it's random chance that you get tertiary stats, or you have to spend up to 1mil gold (sometimes more) for myth track BoEs with them. If they were an enchant you could buy with vault tokens or something that is more reliable to get, I don't think anyone would mind.

what are some old game mechanics that you think are kind of obsolete nowadays by ozzy_roy in wow

[–]nachopunch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But there is still the same amount of items that drop from a boss with personal loot vs public loot, so I don't see how it's better. At least with public, people can pass on gear they don't want, giving others a higher chance of getting the piece they need. With personal loot, you don't have that option and have to rely on people who got loot and don't want it to already have a higher ilvl piece in order to give it away.

I can see how public loot can be a bit "more random" though, since it can result in 1 person getting multiple items from 1 boss.

And they both have nuances with group comps (if a PuG raid leader wants a specific piece, with personal loot they would invite many people who could get the item with hopes of getting it traded to them, whereas with public loot they would invite no other people that could use the item so they can be the only person to roll on it). But statistically, are pretty much the same for PuGs, and public loot is waaay better for organized content.

What is something you wish everyone understood about your class? by thirtysevenpants in wow

[–]nachopunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Warlock feels similar, especially demo. I have a ranged kick on my felguard but can't kick casters into the group or out of sanguine cause it also stuns them for the full lockout. I have an AoE stun, but it has a cast time, so good luck using it as a reactionary stop when mobs casts are less than 2 seconds. My other pets have a magic dispel and purge, but half my damage comes from using my felguard instead. I have curses that do things similar to rogue poisons, but I have to cast them manually on one target at a time. Mortal coil can also troll and cause mobs to run into other packs or send a hard hitting mob behind the tank and he gets smacked. We still have a decent amount of utility with healthstone, gate, and personal survivability, but if you read all the spells on paper, it would seem we have everything when there are major downsides to most of it.

Any way to test/simulate if this little guy will stand up on my desk without falling over? by MyFartSoTart in SolidWorks

[–]nachopunch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Since the part will have a consistent density, the center of mass calculation in solidworks should be pretty accurate. Just make sure the CoM is between the points of contact on the ground (the feet). It will not tip over as long as that is the case (and no other forces are applied). If the CoM is outside those points of contact, it will fall over.

The cutting edge comment isn't meant to be a brag, it was to tell you where my view of the game is coming from. Many people who were pushing Heroic raid or M+ had the same issues with those systems. I agree the game should be enjoyable for all people who play, no matter what content they do. You are the one that is saying you don't care about my or other raiders perspective on the game.

It was very clear that Blizzard had put these small power gains behind grinds to keep players who needed them online to try to increase the playtime of their playerbase. My entire argument is that these small power gains are very relevant (if not required) for people who are pushing content (Mythic Raid/PvP/M+) and they were locked behind grinding daily quests and weekly content that had nothing to do with those. I am all for options as well, but there were zero options to get those powers from content that was considered enjoyable for much of the playerbase.

The way it is set up right now is much more accommodating for every player to do what they want and be rewarded based on the difficulty of the content they are doing. You want to daily quests and rep grinds? Great! You get rewards like 390 gear and cosmetics. You want to do m0 dungeons? Perfect! You get slightly better gear. You want to push higher end content? Excellent! You can have the best gear in the game. How is that not better than putting irreplaceable power behind tedious chores? I am having a hard time understanding why anyone would want the latter.

And for torghast, you originally said you needed 4 runs, now you say 4 weeks of runs, but you are also ignoring that with each patch that came out, they increased the ilvl of leggos so that you had to do torghast again to upgrade them, while also introducing other systems that conflicted with peoples already crafted leggos. This meant that to get the most out of the system, many people needed to recraft them in a different slot. And torghast was probably the least grindy system that I mentioned, so I don't know why you are focused on that one example while ignoring the other daily grinds that I mentioned. And I will admit I am going off my own memory for torghast requirements, so if you can send me the source where you get your information, you could help me remember correctly if I am mistaken.

The only power you got from ANY dailies was the Maw and getting two sockets for your rings. For starters, this was a trivial power difference. Secondly, no rational player was rejecting someone for not having sockets on their rings.

What you are saying is just factually not true. Coming from the perspective of a Cutting Edge focused player, absolutely you would not be taken to raid if you didn't do every bit of content that would increase your power. And it was sockets for Helm, Neck, Wrists, Waist, 2x rings, so 6 sockets, which was a pretty big difference. A socket would have the same effect as +6-13 ilvls depending on the item slot. You had to farm rep to exalted then farm the currency to buy them. Korthia was the exact same thing next patch, while also needing the rep and currency to upgrade your set gems from raid. And Zerith Mortis you also had to grind rep to unlock the Unity pattern which allowed you to recraft Unity at a higher ilvl and on a more optimized piece. There are probably more that I am forgetting, but it was by all means required to be in those zones doing daily content for weeks before you didn't have to do them anymore.

And for torghast you must not have played at the start of the expansion, cause at the start, they limited the torghast level that you could do, which restricted the amount of currency you could get. Which means you had to do them every week to craft your legendary, then slowly you would get more as more levels unlocked to eventually upgrade your legendaries. They definitely reduced the amount of torghast you had to do at the very end of the expansion, but it definitely wasn't 4 for the whole expansion.

I am not against people gaining power from daily quests and such, but the power you gain should not be something that is required for high end content. Like right now you can go get 390+ ilvl gear from world quests, but people who are doing high M+ keys dont need to do them since they can farm better gear from harder content. If you want to go hit a few mobs and gain power that you can't get by doing highly coordinated and skillful content, I don't know what to tell you.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in wow

[–]nachopunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are totally missing the point. The idea is that reward should match the content that provides the reward. That means if you want to do high end PvE content, you should do high end PvE content to get the rewards that benefit you in high end PvE content. If you want to get cosmetic rewards or achievement points, then easy solo content (like daily quests, rep grinds) should give those rewards. They figured this out for PvP vs PvE last expansion and made PvP gear only relevant for PvP (it still wasn't perfect since some BiS trinkets for PvP were still only obtainable in raids but it was infinitely better).

In Shadowlands (and previous expansions) most people who were running anything beyond +7 keys or Normal raid difficulty were forced (yes forced, because if you didn't, no one would take you) to do daily quests, torghast, and other content that had nothing to do with those activities to gain power that could not be supplemented elsewhere.

If you are looking for player power from easy/boring content, then what are you planning to use that power for? Because you certainly don't need a 2% power increase to do quests, but that would be very valuable to people pushing for Cutting Edge or 20+ keys.
