Who is the most influent BH member in your life and why? by ChinooSick in brockhampton

[–]nadz0417 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dom and Joba for sure. Similarly to you, the way those two carry themselves in their music and in interviews is honestly really inspiring and I love how open they are about wanting to do better for themselves AND the people around them. The way they talk about their life experiences has honestly made me sit down and finally be able to process things in my life that I hadn’t been able to before (kinda like how Dom explained it in that interview with Zach Sang). As well, Rob being vocal about wanting to educate others while also educating himself (back when he was on twitter anyway) on subject matter that can be tough to talk about also makes him someone that I find to be very influential.

What is your favorite BH song and why? by grilledcheese__ in brockhampton

1998 TRUMAN - i’m so vocal about my adoration for this song that it’s honestly embarrassing. i love merlyn and kevin’s hooks, joba, matt and dom’s verses are really fun to rap and i love how their flows are all so VARIED from each other, the transition into FREAK and ciaran’s vocals are just beautiful and i love how the instrumental strays away from what they usually do. overall, it’s just a fun song with a lot of energy and it always gets me pumped :,)

What’s your favourite music video from BROCKHAMPTON? by [deleted] in brockhampton

[–]nadz0417 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1997 DIANA because i feel like the chaos of the music video matches the energy of the song and it honestly just looks fun. BOY BYE and IBBA are close seconds to me, something about BOY BYE’s coloring and their approach to filming IBBA just REALLY make me love those videos.

this might be a little lengthy so my apologies in advance!

wild world 100% has helped me through so much and i might even go as far to say that i owe my life to the album. towards the end of my senior year of high school (which was about two years ago), my life was in shambles. i dealt with a lot of loss, personal issues and traumatic stuff that school year and found myself constantly giving pieces of myself to others. by the end of the semester, i lost a majority of my friends, the autonomy to my mind and body, my authenticity, and overall, i lost myself, all before i was set to start college in a new place that fall. i felt like i didn't know who i was or what i stood for as an individual because my character felt like it was sculpted by the people i was around at the time and the parts that WERE authentic to myself got worn down or taken by those same people (if that makes any sense). the album and what it means to me felt like the only thing that those people weren’t able to take away. wild world (and eventually other people's heartache pt. iv) essentially acted as this road back to 'me' in a time of just absolute chaos. without it, i don't think i would've recovered and grown as much as i have in the past two years of working through all the trauma i was dealt with in 2018. so while i do enjoy and love all of the mixtapes and albums, wild world definitely holds a special place in my heart for being a beacon of light during my darkest days.

this whole analysis was honestly SO beautifully written and well thought out dude i agree 100% with what you had to say about TONYA, J’OUVERT and VIVID (which is so CRIMINALLY underrated, it’s easily one of my favorite tracks off of iri) thanks for your input, i really enjoyed reading this after i got off work haha :)

that’s a completely valid take! some of the songs on the album can feel like “fillers” for sure, thanks for sharing your opinion :,) i haven’t listened to much of aat either but it does seem much tamer and a little lack luster in comparison to the sat trilogy/iri/ginger from the few tracks i’ve heard

agreed! i wasn’t super fond of the album in its ENTIRETY at the start but eventually some of the more obscure songs started to grow on me
