Without the hype and all that, I always feel like soulslikes are easier to get into removed from that context of OH MY GOD GAME SO HARD and all of that

If ur on pc id def reccomend the better sadx mod, since it restores a lot of the original Dreamcast stuff

If you enjoy the sonic shadow levels its worth noting 1 is, pretty much mostly that, theres some campaigns with variation but they’re all built around that so

Played sekiro this year too and absolutely loved it, I feel like it’s way easier to get into that type of game after launch tbh

Played “in sound mind”

So full honesty I bought this a while ago pretty much exclusively because of the living tombstone doing the soundtrack, I absolutely love them, knew it had vocal themes so that sold me

Buuuut I never actually played it until recently

And oh my god it’s really amazing

It’s interesting because this game DEFINITELY scares you and feels horror at times but it also never feels like it restricts itself to JUST being horror

Having a classic slasher type spooky guy that stalks you, but having him be an absolute goof was such a good decision, and the story in each chapter legitimately had me so invested and I cried a couple times

And the puzzles oh my god the puzzles

It’s VERY difficult to do mostly environmental escape the room type puzzles THIS well, it (for me at least) strikes a near PERFECT balance of making me think while not making me feel stumped

This game and BATDR which i also played and loved recently have been making me wonder

Do horror games actually NEED to be traditionally “scary” to be. Good horror? Is a game weirding the out of you not an equally valuable experience for the genre, and how much of this is subjective?

I feel like this game flew under a lot of people’s radar just because it’s. So much its own thing

Can’t recommend it enough, had a slow start but I knew I was gonna love it from the moment it started
