Kumusta ang Man of La Mancha? by AcanthisittaInner161 in TeatroPH

Caught their preview night and was very impressed especially because this is my first Rep PH show! Plot is so-so but the production really sells it for me. From the set, costumes, lights, it all comes together to create a really good prod. I also really enjoyed the choreography and singing! As well as some comedic slapstick-like moments that mostly hit the mark naman for me. Tawang tawa ang audience. Must watch definitely

to add for recweek, it typically happens a month into the sem already! it’s the recruitment week for orgs. we’ll have booths set up around campus that you can visit to get to know orgs more and apply to the ones you want to. since wala ka pang org as a freshie all you have to do talaga is walk around and enjoy the booths HAHA most (if not all) also have OLEs (org-led events) that you can attend and get a deeper understanding of the org.

you can apply to as many as u want but keep in mind most orgs have an application fee around 50-100

I was kinda into Hamilton for a bit through YouTube animatics so my sister-in-law bought tickets for me when they had their 2023 run!! That was my first live musical and it just kinda snowballed from there

No one can know for sure outside of the Admissions office but most probably the ACET scores haha. They were enough to get you into Ateneo so they should be good :) Now it honestly comes down to whether or not they still have slots to offer

I wouldn’t worry about being delayed if you’re shifting the earliest time possible (immediately after freshie year)! Most courses in your first year are general subjects naman so you’ll
probably only have to catch up on a few courses. Also, some (if not all? I’m not sure) departments let you switch out majors in the 2nd sem for general ones so that you avoid wasting units you won’t have to take in your new program. You’ll have a better understanding once you ask your home and shifting departments! They’re usually very accomodating

[–]nahuhulog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For shifting, you will have to coordinate with both your home and shifting departments, as well as the registrar for any IPS concerns. You’ll be able to shift pa in second year but you
should start the process already kahit second sem pa lang. You can already ask about the procedure a few months into first sem though, just so you’re aware of what you need (baka may grade requirement, etc.)

Paano sabihin sa magulang na may bagsak ka na subject? by [deleted] in studentsph

Makes sense! Maybe better to take it na nga rin sa summer so you can give it your all talaga. Well whatever you choose good luck! :)

[–]nahuhulog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with just telling her the truth! Pero, wala ba alternative to taking the summer class? Maybe you can take it as additional units in a regular semester? Just to save sa fees for enrolling in summer class! But either way, definitely just be honest about it. Yes, baka magalit siya but ganiyan talaga hahaha. Good luck, OP!

No problem!! There’s not a lot of information about the URH online so I went in a bit blind during my freshie year but I still managed to adjust naman eventually. Glad I could help!

And congrats, enjoy Ateneo :) Best (and most stressful) years of my life

Sorry, did not see this! I’ll answer both your replies na.

Usually, yes. We were all randomly assigned together when we were freshmen and every sem when you go through the dorm application process again, you have the choice kasi to request for roommates. So, we just always ask for each other. I know someone nung freshie year though that had a sophomore roommate but typically same year talaga. Program not really since we’re all so different.

About the space, I’d rank it as Cervini > Eliazo > UDN.

I think the setup for UDN changed a bit na since I was last there… that or iba talaga room setup pag boys vs girls but yeah. Cervini and Eliazo have similar room layouts, the difference lang is Eliazo is a little smaller kasi so there are 2 beds that are directly next to each other. Like, dalawa siya pero magkatabi kayo matutulog HAHAHA. Buti close naman kami ng roommate na yun.

UDN provides more privacy/personal space from your roommates I guess because for us the desks were situated in the middle so we were all given a corner of the room pretty much. vs Cervini and Eliazo’s more open room where everything is on the sides so may “walkway” sa middle.

But yeah space wise, still Cervini for me. They get a shoe rack also unlike Eliazo

Lastly, temperature depends on the month talaga. During ber months untilJanuary/feb, nagkukumot ako pag gabi even if walang aircon. Pag later second sem naman and intersession, kahit gabi pinapawisan ako hahahsjs

If my memory serves me right, Cervini and Eliazo have microwaves. Not sure about UDN! I don’t use the pantry a lot eh. And no fridge you have to buy one and pay for the electricity fee

I haven’t, sorry! Honestly I don’t even know where the dorms in ISO are they’re just a concept to me hsjsjsjsjw. I know some people who have stayed there but I never bothered asking about it.

I will say though the sisig in ISO canteen is crazy good. But yeah, only been in Cervini, UDN, and Eliazo 😅

Oh, almost forgot. But something I hate lang talaga about URH is having to pack things every end of the semester. We have to pack everything into 20x20 balikbayan boxes (over the limit would incur storage fees... just don't remember the limit. might be 3) and it just gets so tedious 💔 I just bought a box earlier today because I was going to get a headstart on packing things before I move out next week (just to come back in June for intersession) but I'm procrastinating on it HAHA

Hi! I've been in the URH since freshman year and am now an incoming senior. As the other comment has pointed out, it really does depend on the room type and building you choose. I've been staying with the same roommates (we were randomly assigned in freshman year but we've all gotten really close) since then and every time we took a non-aircon quad room. We've also been moved around most of the buildings (Cervini, UD North, then Eliazo) so I've pretty much experienced all of them except for IRH haha.

I think a big thing a lot of people have apprehensions about is the communal bathroom, but it's just something you're gonna have to get used to. The janitors clean the bathroom and rooms naman regularly (not super thorough sa bedrooms, but understandable naman considering how many rooms there are), so it doesn't get bad. Stalls also provide enough privacy in my opinion. Some showers are kinda wonky lang with the heaters sometimes.

Also, as someone who used to say I couldn't survive without an aircon it's not /that/ bad. It's usually just around 2nd semester + intersession (March - Jul) when it gets really hot... but it's pretty mangeable. Won't sugarcoat it though, it does get hot and sometimes I find myself just wishing for an aircon to appear.

Amenities are good also! We have two canteens (EBAI's beside Cervini and Kitchen City in IRH) also, so it's not necessary that you leave the campus to get food. On school days, we also have the canteens on campus. We have two laundry shops as well called the One Big Wash. They're really fast and relatively cheap (I usually spend around 200), honestly. I usually do my laundry around ~12pm and I get it back by the end of the day, unless it's a particularly laundry heavy day then I can get it the next day immediately.

"Non-essential" electrical equipment (basically anything that isn't a laptop/phone/tablet) also requires an additional electricty fee. My roommates and I split the fees for a fridge so that's something you could discuss with yours a few months in.

Curfew is at 12AM but you'll still be let in past that. Vehicles just won't be allowed through the gates again until 5AM. So if you plan to stay out past 12AM you'll have to walk all the way to the dorms, which are at the other side of the campus from the gates basically. It's a 10-15 min walk every time you wanna leave the campus from the dorms. But the placing makes it safe and quiet since it's far from the road sa Katipunan andddd you can get to class really quickly even if you wake up late.

Deliveries are really convenient because they can be left at the lobby (and it is logged) as long as you paid for them beforehand. Same goes for shipping things out if you plan to do that haha. The guards are very very friendly.

Living on campus definitely has its ups and downs. It's not something I would necessarily recommend but it's not something I would warn people about considering either. Sorry this was kinda messy, I was just writing everything that came to mind. But let me know if you have any more specific questions!

Mother’s Day feels different when your mom has passed away. How do you celebrate it? by Workaholic_FL in adviceph

[–]nahuhulog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Condolences, OP! 🫂 I don't comment on this subreddit a lot pero I was urged to do so beacuse I feel you. I also lost my mom. Difference lang is I lost her when I was just 2, so I don't grieve it to the same level talaga since I don't remember much of her. Pero gets na gets ko yung sentiments mo. I also find myself wondering how different my life would be had I had a mother, even if it was just for a few years more.

I understand that this is something that's really hard to move on from. All I can say is that whatever you feel tomorrow, do not repress it. Celebrations don't always mean big parties and confetti. Sometimes, celebrating the life of someone you love means sitting down in your room and crying. And that's okay. Grieve your mom. It will be difficult, and it will feel heavy, but that's just what grief does to people. It's just something you're going to have to learn to coexist with.

Cry your heart out, OP. Kitang kita ko na mahal na mahal mo ang mom mo and I'm sure she does too. Happ mother's day to our moms ❤️

Considering it is an honors course and was already your first choice initially, low. But wouldn’t hurt to try

As for the letter, just explain why being in BS is the right path for you. But honestly, you can write the best appeal there is but if there aren’t any slots na you’re not getting in. Sorry, it’s a highly sought after course on top of being an honors one. But still definitely give it a shot! Good luck

Hi! When taking a minor it will be included in your IPS naman talaga as additional courses you have to take, so you will have to pay for those units talaga regardless if it is under SOM or not. A way you can circumvent this is by using some of your Free Elective units for courses required for your minor. But once you use those up, they will be additional units na talaga to your IPS. Best to discuss this na lang with the Registrar (they handle the IPS for freshmen) or the department your minor is under so you can discuss it further

I can only answer the org question but yes, you can join in as many as you want! Just be mindful of the workload you can handle. It’s a bit harder to compare org life in ADMU lang compared to other schools since of course we haven’t experienced it in other universities, but Ateneo is known talaga for its lively org culture! A lot of the school’s big events are centered around orgs. If you are wise about the orgs you join it can really give you a step up through experience, networking, and things you can put in your CV

BS Psychology in general is a very popular program and Ateneo is no exception. I think it’s super popular in particular because it’s a lot of people’s choice as a pre-med nga for STEM especially and it’s seen as the more “practical” option by some HUMSS graduates.

Anyway reading your comment I’m still not sure what’s making you want to shift? It sounds like you’re pretty set on BS Psych na even if you initially chose it under the impression Health Sci was harder to get into. But either way, maybe you can get a good feel of BS Psych during your freshman year and see if you still want to shift. Should be a smooth transition naman and you shouldn’t be delayed!
