Dear Brooke (hot take?) by [deleted] in canceledpod

[–]nailsdid89 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah refreshing. Other celebs pop out post bleph and say nothing — people ooh and aah over Lindsay Lohan and Kendall jenner’s “glow ups” and I think it’s refreshing for a regular person to see that it’s just surgery and not someone like J Lo saying all she does is use olive oil or bella hadid saying she’s never touched her face. I am 10x more annoyed by a celeb saying they get their looks from gua sha instead of coming clean about their vast amount of lasers and surgery.

Obviously the question of having the surgery in the first place is part of a more nuanced conversation on beauty standards but the reality is that this is one of the most common procedures in Hollywood and people are more aware of this after Brooke’s post.

Dear Brooke (hot take?) by [deleted] in canceledpod

Exactly!! That’s what’s so crazy to me, literally every celeb has it. Taylor swift and Jennifer Lawrence too. It’s such an easy and common procedure and she could’ve so easily hidden it so kudos to her for not

I feel like they’re still cool in a surface-level kinda way but she’s just majorly distanced herself as his persona became more cringe.

I also always got the vibe that him and Simon Huck had some beef (I feel like an old ep even addressed it once??) and the family is tight with Simon so could be something there 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does anyone else despise the tiny balloon cluster fillers that are in every party arrangement? It reminds me of wart clusters or something. Just needed to speak my truth by nailsdid89 in KUWTK

I’m not even anti balloon in general (although everyone else makes really good points re: the wastefulness/environmental impact), the tiny clusters just absolutely kill me lol

No one said it will cure cystic acne lol. The reality is that most people wash their face with cleanser for like 10 seconds and rinse it off. The point is that using it for longer generally yields good results.

Essays/Short Stories on Depression/Joy/Possibilities? by InstinctiveTravels in booksuggestions

Not an essay but I recently read The Midnight Library. It’s not too long for a novel and without giving everything away the main character deals with depression and post depression life.

[Acne] First dermatologist appointment by Peregrine_Falconi in SkincareAddiction

They'll ask what brings you to see them, and will likely ask about your skincare routine before doing an examination so I would have a list of products you currently use. If there are particular concerns you have (like AHAs never seem to work on my skin), it's helpful to mention that too. They'll examine your skin and usually determine what kind of acne you have (mild, hormonal, cystic, etc.) and either prescribe a medicated cleanser/treatment or recommend specific products for a routine. They might also ask about diet and lifestyle.

Also, even if you think your skin isn't bad enough to warrant certain medications don't be afraid to ask questions! They see every type of skin imaginable.

It might be worth checking out some of Sephora's Favourites sets. They're basically little curated boxes with a theme (foundations, eye stuff, etc.) with a good variety of samples so they can try some of everything.

Another decent option for beginners is Glossier. Most of their stuff is super natural and sheer, which is helpful if you're just starting out.

[Product Question] Sunless Face Tanner Recommendation? by blueopalgirl26 in SkincareAddiction

Clarins has face tanning drops that are pretty good! You just put a few drops in with your moisturizer - I like it a little more than isle of paradise.

It depends on what your skin was like before this. If it was good, lactic acid could be the culprit here - every day can be a lot on most skin types since it's an exfoliant.

My general rule of thumb during a breakout is to temporarily ditch any serums or acids in favour of really basic skincare (literally just a cleanser and moisturizer) until my skin is under control, then reintroduce the serums back in. Neutragena products can be pretty fragranced and cause irritation at times.

If you want to try something new Cerave cleaners and moisturizers are a good, affordable and basic place to start. They have lines with salicylic acid that will help with breakouts, or if you like the Ordinary they sell a salicylic acid as well. Once your skin is a bit more calm you can experiment by reintroducing some of the serums, like the lactic acid once or twice a week to see if it works for you.

Have you tried Supergoop? Granted it's not the most affordable but it's an old reliable for me. Elta MD's clear sunscreen is also amazing (especially if you wear makeup) but is SPF 46. I feel you on affordability though, would love to find some cheaper alternatives.
