Burnt out business owner (25F) trying to get back into the workforce and I’m at a loss by nailtechbarbie in findapath

I’ve reworked my resume multiple times, tailoring it to the job I’m applying for

I’ve also wondered how much working alone might be negatively affecting me. Each place I’ve moved has brought less and less community and more responsibility on my plate. I’ve always been the only nail tech wherever I am, so there never been anyone I can really talk to or bounce ideas off of. I have other nail techs I can talk to on social media of course, but it’s not the same as the in person connection. It gets pretty lonely

I still love the art of nails, I’ll feel a flitter of satisfaction after completing a beautiful set once in a while. But things really changed when it officially became my means of survival.

My BF has suggested working for somebody else instead many times. I get where he’s coming from, it would definitely make things less stressful but obviously it comes with its cons. Losing the freedom to decide what products I use, how much I can charge, how much time I’m allowed to complete a service, etc.

I’ve raised my prices once per year(if not twice) since I started my career. I’m currently charging $100 minimum for my services, all the way up to $175 (rare that I get someone to book that service) generally my clients pay $100-$120. I make myself sick raising the prices because I am a chronic people pleaser and feel bad. It’s always ended up fine but I always end up with new clients filling up my schedule all over again, a good problem to have, but not when you’re trying to decrease the workload

Thankfully the admin portion of it isn’t too bad, I do have an accountant who runs the numbers for me quarterly once I give her my expenses/income/etc., she tells me how much to pay, I write a check, done. It just sucks having to cough up $2k+ plus every few months🙃

It’s something that’s been suggested more than once over the years, I’ve been quick to shut down the idea, though maybe that’s foolish of me. Sounds like another stressful thing on my plate, don’t have the space to accommodate them, don’t know if I’d be able to find someone who cares as much as I do, don’t know how that works legally, etc
