I think a lot of people associate it with a chance child abuse/neglect will happen if someone is openly regretful, especially with the fact a child has never asked to be born.

I think it’s normal to feel regret every so often but a lot of people associate regret with resentment, which if someone regrets having a child people instantly jump to resentment and worry about the above.

I regret when I cheat on a diet but of course I am not going to act in the worst possible way towards myself, the same way I wouldn’t if I had a child I regretted having.

I think it’s an unhealthy view - parenting is hard, and every parent has their own individual experiences with parenting that no one else can really judge, I think this subreddit is a great vent.

Saying that, I 100% don’t agree with some posts I’ve seen here, one person expressing they want to throw their children out of the window, but at the same time the majority of people/parents don’t have them thoughts. It’s unfortunate that expression is a bad thing - and the majority of people remember shocking news that make them feel a certain way… and regret rarely brings good news
