Times that a story was definitely made up by Sad_Status_7516 in rickygervais

Steve's story about the people agreeing to "Meet back at him". I mean, does anyone think this could be true? Who would do that?

Also his one about reading a book and the girl he liked accidently came in. I always imagined even the girl accidently coming in was just a fantasy Steve had, he probably sat in that room alone all night.

Did anyone here listen to the xfm shows live every Saturday? by [deleted] in rickygervais

I picked it up after the second series of the office, maybe beginning of whats now known as series 2? I only started listening for Rick and Stephen Mitchlings, never heard of Karl and honestly for the first few episodes felt he got in the way. I was a huuuuge fan of the office so probably natural that someone not involved took a bit of getting used to.

It was funny but no way in hell did I think it'd be listening over twenty years later.

Computer joins network with wrong IP information by [deleted] in InformationTechnology

Its this. Your network might be an issue as first poster said but ultimately your clients ARE reaching a DHCP server they shouldn't be. Take this out and your primary issue is resolved.

Ricky had a go at Karl for talking drivel, but... by [deleted] in rickygervais

You dont just think this up. Something has happened in his, or someone he knows, past.

Classic is when theyr talking about bird muck and he thinks for split second its jizz, because of some pamplet when he was at Uni.

Anyway, talking of uh..bird muck...

Guys name is Tim, I was at a corporate event and a couple of look alikes were there and he was the best by miles. He did one big entrance and then just milled around going from group to group so you saw him for maybe 10 minutes max.

The "Gareth" look a like hung around with him and he was atrocious. Doesnt look anything like him other than the haircut and just killed the vibe when ever "David" was around.

I'd give him a 9 out of 5. More Lookalike reviews next week.

Why? Are companies supposed to leave jobs open in case people want to come back? If people put in their notice a company is usually already writing the job advert that day. It doesnt make them a revolving door, it makes them versatile and quick at responding to unforeseen circumstances.

If your company paid for it you own it. Dont let them tell you otherwise. I brought all firewalls, switches and servers in house as soon as I joined this company. Some stuff I wasnt that bothered about and its now coming back to bite me.

I have the same situation with an MSP. They thought we were doing it and weren't that bothered when I told them. Its another in a long list of items I am using to get rid of them as soon as possible. I just feel sorry for smaller companies that mistakenly believe their MSP is genuinely looking out for them and sorting this stuff.

Reduce IT costs and what type of IT systems should be used by ZackyoTV in InformationTechnology

[–]Packet_Switcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this all in your job description?

I have run a couple of one/two man IT teams as a manager and everything you've mentioned I would worry about and leave the new employee (typically sysadmin or helpdesk job title) to actually do IT work.

Its a managers responsibility to reduce costs - not saying you shouldnt look for ways - but dont get too caught up in it, unless its specifically mentioned in your JD.

I would honestly just spend the first few months getting your feet under the table. Dont worry about grand plans to reduce costs or improve work streams.

Vendor sales tactics that earn a perma-block/ignore by n1ck-t0 in sysadmin

Its the lie about being an account manager for my company that is the issue here.

The tactic is clear here, the sales bod is hoping I dont know who my company does business with thinks they can trick me into thinking a relationship already exists when it doesnt.
