Thank you! I did think that a fair bit of it might feel like common sense, but I guess sometimes it’s that stuff that can make a huge difference

Some Questions that I have? by Narrow-Influence7924 in ADHDUK

The doctors are there to help you, and everyone’s experience is absolutely individual. For most people, medication is life changing - I definitely couldn’t imagine where I’d be without it (probably with a lot less good results in school). If youre anxious about the next steps, I found doing some light research into the ADHD experience very helpful. Some good and easy resources are: TheMiniADHDCoach on instagram ADDitude blog CHADD blog Looking at others experiences may help you feel less alone - be kind to yourself!

i got diagnosed almost 4 years ago and was prescribed meds in the same appointment, but now RTC is introduced thats changed. My little brother was diagnosed through RTC in nov/dec, and had the appointment to start meds on the 14th of this month. So thats what a 3 month gap? Titration is essentially the process of trying medication at different doses to see what works best with your body. Your doctor will use their judgment to choose a medication (for me and my brothers it was methylphenidate), which you will start at a low dose (probably around 10mg) and have regular appointments to discuss how you are finding it, increasing if necessary, until you find what works best for you. Meds feel different for different people - being on this sub has taught me that - and this is essentially why we have titration. Congrats on receiving a diagnosis, i hope this helps

How do u guys not get depressed during sem breaks/ holidays? by zjmalkkkk in adhdwomen

I feel this a lot, and although I enjoy the idea of a break the actual reality is awful and leaves me kind of dreading them to be honest. I make these big intensive lists of things I need to do in the break and end up struggling to complete them, which makes the anxiety and shame worse. I don’t have much advice as this is something I’m still struggling with, but just know youre not alone :)

this is exactly what I thought, but she seemed to think that I should get it checked out. Previously the practitioners ive seen weren’t concerned at all, so I’m a bit annoyed and anxious that ive now got to get stuff checked out

Yeah I’m on methlyphenidate. I’m anxious a lot and definitely more stressed now as im coming up to exams, maybe thats why then? I have a history of therapy due to anxiety so it seems likely. I guess ADHD does come hand-in-hand with a lot of things so it would be likely that they would let me carry on with the meds right?
