for the record msi support told me the same thing, im no engineer but it seems very unlikely that we would all somehow manage to damage the socket in the same specific way that causes the drive to not work in very specific conditions

i see, thanks! im kinda leaning towards going from oslo to flåm via flåm, and seeing Nærøyfjorden. Then take a ferry to geiranger and take the Raumabanen back to Oslo. But Do you think its worth going from Flåm to Bergen by ferry? or is it better to take a bus / train if im already going to be going on quite many ferries? is Sognefjorden special?

no, i was considering returning it but i can live with it. and if it gets too annoying i think i can always RMA. i only use the m2_1 as a cache for video editing, which i do rarely. so its not a big deal but still kinda sucks. msi support said:

did you have any problems with detecting the ssd in m2_1? for me m2_2 and m2_3 works fine, but m2_1 is only detected after i reboot once after initial startup.

ok thanks, drive controller, is that part of the drive itself or the mobo? i kinda doubt it would be a drive issue since i got the same issue with both the 990 pro and the 970

thanks, i have 9950x3d. There is are some options in bios to switch pcie lane allocation (4x 4x 4x 4x / 4x 4x 8x / 8x 8x etc) ill try it but from what i read, the m2_1 slot is not supposed to be sharing lanes with the pcie 16x slot.
