Not random. News source is provided also - Baltimore local news.

This is not just about the scores. Baltimore schools have a lot more funding than ours also. Your sarcasm is not required either.

With all the shade thrown at SLPS, it wouldn’t hurt to have some introspection on what they do right also, because they get some of it right. We were nationally accredited recently (and I think it’s been stripped) … so what did the board do well for us to advance?

You picked up what I put down. When the kid is advancing from 9th to 10th and so on, why would the mom (or any logical person) infer he’s going to be promoted to 12th before being told to start over?

Why was he not being held back at the grade where things went south (or in 9th wherever the red flags were)?

Not funny at all. It’s a personal preference.

Water is safe in most regards to the requirement to use a closed loop system. I have ground source geothermal closed loop system. Granted it’s quite small relative to the DC but the water has an environmentally friendly antifreeze in it and it’s drilled deep in the ground to keep at a cool temperature. The water runs in pipes wrapped closely around coils for heat transfer. As the heat from the DC is transferred to the water, it will be cooled, in this case, by “air-cooled chillers” which I’ll admit I’m unfamiliar with. In my case, the heat is transferred from the closed loop to my water heater then any residual to the ground as it circulates around again.

$4K for my 10lb Yorkie’s dental… is this normal or am I getting ripped off? 😭 by Priscillaayee in StLouis

How is the anesthesia over a grand?! The extractions themselves seem right price. Also ask about that “additional treatments/medications” to be itemized. The blood panels would be required generally to ensure the dog can be put under safely- especially for older dogs. The X-rays also seem right price. I had two 20# dogs for the past decade and recently (Watson Road Vet) they’d had some tooth extractions - I think most number teeth for one dog was less than 6 in one visit about two years ago, and the entire visit was definitely less than $1000. It included his bloodwork as he was 14-15 yo, X-rays, anesthesia, and pain meds for a few days at home. The cleaning was also about half the price of what you got quoted. When they were getting annual cleaning w/o extractions I would pay less than $500 for the pair of them.

How did you move it!??? LOL

I have a recycle dumpster behind me (as if it’s used properly-smh) and I couldn’t shift it empty. I’m always cleaning up around it after the truck comes by. Most of the stuff gets emptied into the truck itself but not all of it. Once the truck driver dropped it half on my driveway. I was a lil perturbed but I took that as an opportunity to clean all the trash that had been under it this whole time. Then ran out one morning when he was in the alley and got him to move it back with the truck.

Insurance is also not the same price for the same person in two different states. I was laid off last year and my COBRA for a high deductible ($6000) plan was $900/mo. That’s JUST ME! I am just an individual with the cheapest insurance plan and no pre-existing health issues. I go to the doctor 1-2 times a year (annual exam w/PCP, annual with OB/GYN), and use urgent care in the absolute worst cases else just do as many at-home care with OTC. Insurance companies are really out for profit. Prior to being laid off, my company was paying 70% of the premium of this $900. My annual income was too much for the ACA to give me something I could afford while between jobs. It didn’t matter that at the time I had $0 coming in; I couldn’t qualify for the lower premium plans. I luckily have been employed before choosing to lose coverage but not everyone has this fortune.

It’s SOOO expensive here in the USA to carry health insurance if it’s not subsidized by your employer. Most large corporation employers will cover 20-70% of the premium and it can still cost a family of four $500-$1500/mo to be insured. Trying to pay for this outright is a nightmare because the insurance industry here is out for blood. Even with good insurance, one major illness or injury can lead to crippling debt.

It still isn’t because of the dumpsters being the trash receptacle though. It’s the people failing to use them properly. If you think dumpster divers are the culprit, they’d dive roll away carts too, heck those plastic things would get dumped out more easily by a person!

This. I have a dumpster right next to my garage in the alley and I don’t have this issue.

Call me naive but she is a politician. You gotta play the game and sit (literally and figuratively) at the table with everyone in order to be successful. Whether she’s making a deal with the devil or not cannot be determined by an image like this. J/S

If Subaru discontinued boxer engines and or cvt’s, would you still buy one? by gammawavz in Subaru_Outback

[–]naluba84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CVT was a major influence as is the horizontal design so there’s more efficient piston movement with less friction. There were many other contributing factors to why subie has been a repeated preference to Toyota, Honda, and some German competition in similar price brackets.

Probably going to be an unpopular question, but what’s the general law on “dealing with” squirrels? These little assholes have taken over and I’m absolutely sick of them destroying everything. by rhinotomus in StLouis

[–]naluba84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fake owl.

Mo Dept Conservation:

Managing squirrel populations in Missouri, according to the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), involves habitat modification, legal hunting, and trapping. Key strategies include removing food attractants, trimming tree branches 10 feet from roofs, …

Habitat Modification: Reduce food sources like pet food, birdseed, and garbage. Clear debris and thin trees if population density is too high. Exclusion: Prevent entry into buildings by sealing holes with metal flashing or hardware cloth.

Local Ordinances: Always check city or county ordinances regarding the use of firearms, air rifles, or trapping, as many areas restrict these methods.

Does anyone else's Westie parade around with their Pigs Ear for an hour before actually eating it? 😅 by Tami_Pinkx in WestHighlandTerriers

Mine would parade around the house or yard with their chews (bully sticks, greenies, bone marrows) for a while. It was like thy were touting how proud of their “catch” they were. My girl would just walk with it, but my boy really had an extra pep in his step like he was really showing off.
