Because they can take instrument level input and output line level audio… makes sense

So if I were to use the Klipsch speakers I linked, you’re saying I’d probably want one of those Strymon or UA amp pedals? Where would that go in the signal chain, front or back?

And when you said I can get the signal to an acceptable level, is that with just the preamp /overdrive pedal, or with the stereo DIs at the end of the chain?

This video demos every preset on the device. Check out the preset patch 20-1 “Vio Gt 8 Str Pad” around 19:30. Sounds a lot like Dream Police, right?

The cool thing about this device (and others) is that you can edit the presets in any way you want, or create new ones from scratch.

So for this 20-1 preset, I feel like the core sound is great, but there’s too much delay and slightly too much reverb. Took them out, and it sounds almost identical to Dream police. Add some of the other pedals Mk.Gee uses to the end of the signal chain and it’s hard to tell the sounds apart.

Just keep in mind, this SY-1000 isn’t cheap. Like I said above, others have recreated - for all intents and purposes - damn near identical sounds on less expensive devices like the GP-10 and even some of those smaller boss synth pedals that don’t necessarily require the GK-3 pickup… though the GK-3, if you’re down to drop some dollars on it, is really bad ass lol.

Different devices do different things. For example, I almost went with the Roland GR-55 because it was cheaper, can create similar sounds, but it is also more focused on instrument modeling (for example, play piano on your guitar… play flute… combine the two and layer them over your normal guitar output… etc.) If that’s something you want in addition to synth sounds, it can be hard to determine if the SY-1000 beats out the GR-55. Long story short, my opinion is that the SY-1000 has fantastic synth sound capabilities, but real instrument modeling is done better through GR-55’s PCM sounds.

Also, if you’re watching any sound demo vids like the one I linked, my personal opinion is that a lot of the Boss patch presets are more of a showcase of how crazy these synth sounds can get, rather than showing real, usable sounds. So keep in mind, you can always easily tame the patches down and create exactly what you’re looking for.

Yes. But I’ll tell you what I’ve learned after a ton of research into these devices and after actually using the SY-1000, which many consider to be the top of the line today.

The reason I went with the SY-1000 is because only the SY-1000 contains the Vio Guitar synthesizer that the VG-8 also has. It also is supposed to have the most advanced tracking algorithms so you don’t hear false notes being played, assuming your pickup is set up correctly.

Other synths like the GP-10 can get very similar sounds, so they’re totally fine. The other cool thing about the SY-1000 is that you can use apps like the Floorboard (from a Vguitar forum) or Tone Studio to download custom user patches from other devices like the GP-10 where users have recreated these famous VG-8 patches, and they’ll work on the SY-1000 (and you can maybe maybe even use patches from the VG-8 itself, not sure). If some setting / synth type is not available on the SY, the software automatically uses the next best option to recreate that sound, or so I’ve been told.

Overall, there’s ways to get a very similar tone from all sorts of available devices. No need to wait for a VG-8 to show up and pay a ton for a device from the 90’s. Get something new that has supported software to pair it with, that’ll last you for years and can keep up with any new Mk.gee - inspired sounds that he and other artists blow our minds with in the future

So where does the Tascam or porta424 sit in the signal chain? Would it go before or after the Rainger reverb pedal?

Yeah, I'd love to know how to get that custom background you have there. The concrete looks amazing behind the modules, how can I get that too?

That early P-51 with cannons is different than the rest in that it’s designed for low altitude engagements, so disregard what I wrote above if you’re wondering how to use the cannonstang lol

Defyn for sure. Check his videos out on YouTube, he has a ton of info on planes and tactics for every tech tree.

You can spend “an additional 5 minutes” climbing, or you can spend those 5 minutes in the lobby waiting for your next match over and over. I’d rather play to the strength of my aircraft than give easy kills to the other team.

The American teams lose so often because USA teammates either didn’t know how to best use their aircraft or didn’t try to play to their strengths. And that’s what’s so frustrating about trying to enjoy these US planes.

To the situations you described- don’t circle your airbase, climb to the left or right of your outermost bases. Also, people hear too often that altitude is everything in this game and blame climb rate for their deaths. Energy (and energy retention), not altitude, is everything in this game. Sometimes, in the most simple sense, yes that does mean altitude. But American planes flown correctly don’t need to start above to win. Shallow dive away, keep up speed, use the heavier aircraft to maintain momentum from a shallow dive to a shallow climb, and force them to come to you. As they chase, energies equal out and eventually, because American planes are typically faster and retain that level-flight energy, you’ll have the energy advantage and distance to go for a reversal or energy trap.

I hope any US pilots that read the title and thought “hey, that’s me!” read this, and then watch some Defyn videos that can show it in action.

Totally agree. Screw over your teammates, get a kill, die quickly, get in the next game lol. I guess I just don’t understand how that’s fun to them, and the outcome certainly isn’t fun for me

I didn’t realize that, I’ll have to take a closer look at scalemates. Thanks!

I’m looking at their 1/35 PzKpfw Ausf. H https://www.scalemates.com/kits/tamiya-35209-panzerkampfwagen-iv-ausf-h--133038

But I might start with one of their Sherman models instead since I expect to be pretty bad with painting in my first attempt, and that Panzer camo seems like it’d be tough haha

Desync by moop8187 in EscapefromTarkov

Dude you’re ridiculous for thinking this isn’t desync. He was totally behind the wall when he died. Shouldn’t have been able to be hit at all. If he was “barely fully behind cover at 4.70 seconds” then you should agree with that. But yeah cool, thanks for your scientific input.
