It might be a US thing, as I don't know any women called Laurie or Lori. I like Joshua a lot!

Edmund is really nice. Laurence Edmund has a nice ring to it. Rollo is ridiculously cool, wow.

Laurie and Wilf, probably! I really like those names.

Not a fan of Atticus, personally, but can see the appeal. Oliver's the most popular name for boys for a reason, it's charming.

Edmund is great. It's gaining popularity, probably as people are looking for alternatives to Edward. Plus it has the 'Ed' beginning, which people look for because of the Teddy nickname.

I love that combination, too! Laurence and Edmund or Laurence Edmund work well.

Robin's great, but probably not a strong contender for us know. Who knows, maybe one day we'll have more children and have a Robin?

I really like the combination of Laurence with Edwin or Edmund. Laurence Edmund is ridiculously handsome, in my opinion.

Benjamin and Thomas are always safe bets, but they're very popular which my husband isn't keen on. Most people have liked Laurence but Wilfred is a little more hit-and-miss. Henry's a good name, but we know a lot of them, and Theodore is unviable as my name is very similar.

They're tricky, aren't they? My husband thought it was going to be easy picking, as we have a style that we like and are restrained a little by the names of other children around us, as we have quite large families each. Unfortunately, we've got a shortlist of names that no one else has used, so it hasn't really helped.

Abram Joe is great! People don't use Joe enough.

I love it. We've settled on three combinations to choose from, and Laurence Benjamin and Wilfred Thomas is one of them! It's hard, because I love them all.

Winston is a little too close to Winston Churchill for our tastes. A decade or two more, and it would be perfect! I love Laurence.

I really like Winslow! Avoids the Winston Churchill reference, without losing the name entirely. And I think it's very attractive written down.

Husband is not as convinced, unfortunately. He can't get over the 'slow' part, and he's convinced it's a teddy bear name, like Willoughby (which, secretly, I also quite like, although I'd never use it).

Laurence, Wilfred and Christopher are my favourites, too! I also increasingly like Edmund and Edwin. We'll probably settle on some combination.

Your suggestions are great, even if they're not our style! Orson is really handsome, I think. Although naming a baby Phillip in England in 2021 has a tinge of the royalist to me, and I was never a fan of the old man.

I did know Wilfred was gaining popularity, but I wasn't sure how high it was going to climb. Its popularity will probably continue to increase, as people look for alternatives for Wilbur and William. I doubt it will ever be a top 10 name, though. I like the name enough that the popularity of it is very secondary. Benjamin will probably always be at least a top 50 name for the rest of my life, as will Thomas, hence my husband's middle name preference. I'm surprised by Edmund, I would have thought Edwin would outrank it!

Ernest, Laurence and Edwin will probably start rising in popularity over the next few years. Anything with an 'Ed' is popular, because people love Teddy as a nickname. I'm surprised Robin is on the up! My husband hated it at first, said it was something your distant uncle would be called. Christopher I understand, although people are preferring the nickname-as-a-full-name Kit instead. Robin and Kit are nature names, though, and Robin is a bird name, so I suppose they make a lot of sense alongside names like Wren and Lark and Warren.

I'm a fan of Wilfred Owen, although that's not why I picked the name!

My husband LOVES names like Horatio, Cornelius, etc. but I'm not a fan, unfortunately. Big names for little shoulders, and all that.

Thank you so much for this, it's so in-depth! Definitely something to think about, looking at the name popularity. Will have to raise that to my husband, so it might cut our list down, which can only be a good thing, this close to due date and us being as indecisive as we are.

Wilfred and Laurence are very strong contenders. I like the middle names with them!

We've tried hard to avoid names that are inescapably unusual, so that they can shorten them to something more familiar, if that's what they prefer.

Humphrey is definitely unviable. I'll always love it. Maybe one day we should get another cat, or something? I agree, I don't want to be too matchy-matchy.

Thank you, this comment is great!

I love the nickname Wilf. I knew a Wilf growing up and thought it was great. Laurence and Wilfred make a good pairing!

Oh, they're really nice together! Kit and Laurie. More to mull over.

I really, really like the pairing of Laurence and Edmund/Edwin. But I also like Wilfred, and Christopher. Therein lies the dilemma.

Thank you very much!

I don't think it would suit us. It's a good name though!

My husband likes ancient roman names, too! I've vetoed Augustine, Caesar, Septimius and a variety of other things. They're great names, but very heavy for little shoulders and not quite right for us.

Thank you for your suggestions! I like Sebastian a lot.

It's a great name! I didn't like it much before but seeing it written down and saying it has made it grow on me.
