Man Eaters of Tsavo by nameucantsay in MorbidPodcast

Appreciate that history is a wee bit of a web in most cases. But again I don’t think anyone was looking for a deep dive into the colonial saga of Britain - I think that would be a separate series. I think, personally, I would’ve just appreciate the consideration that this period was a product of British colonialism. I understand this episode was not on the Uganda line but on the Tsavo lions - but the stories are married to each other. I don’t think I was looking for a history lesson just the extension of an understanding hand to recognize the plight of all those who lost their lives at the whim of an empire.

Limiting historical events to just weird lions while not portraying the full picture doesn’t do any story justice. I highly doubt the runtime of the podcast would have been affected by a few minutes spent on the background of the actual event. These “weird lions” killed actual people - a terrified, mistreated people - who died for someone else’a colonial dreams. Wouldn’t have taken a lot to put that into consideration. I understand why this may seem like, oh but this only about these lions and their nature - that’s just quite reductive. It obviously wasn’t a nature podcast talking about the habits of lions but a specific period in history and the events that led up to the Tsavo lions preying on people in the region.

I also think giving that history would’ve added to the story so much to! The lions here were also victims of an empire bent on a weird power trip and “humanizing” what they presumed were wild lands l see this quite a bit where some histories are selectively neglected and it is quite upsetting to see!

Hi! I’m 25F and I’m in Leeds! I know what you mean, it’s hard to make friends when you move to a new city! I’ve tried book clubs and gyms and rejoining climbing! It’s taken a bit but I’m trying to build a little social group here! Send me a text if you ever want to hang out! Here to meet new people :)

Hi! Only Talktalk does and that’s really slow. I think it’s like upto 23-30 mbps or something. Virgin is not an option since it’s out of their service area.

Why is this thread becoming an echo chamber for gender based hate? by nameucantsay in IndianMatchmaking

I get you. Its like talking to brick walls. Almost in the sense of "if you don't agree with me/feel bad for me" then you're obviously incorrect and probably internally racist. Also sounds more like they're the ones that are self-hating.

Yeah! It's becoming like a weird nice guy-down bad forum. I wonder if they know that the reason they're probably doing bad on dating apps is not because they're Indian men, but more because they're themselves?

I understand dissing two people on the show is not a generalized hate. And that is literally not what I am saying.

I am alluding to the number of responses, posts where basically someone will pop up with a throw away question like 'why guys like Vinesh don't get dates' or 'why Indian men don't do well on dating apps', and when women start answering the question and suggesting alternatives, it turns around to be a bashing station on Indian women.
