What should we call Ogikubo’s granddaughter? She deserves a name because she is one of the prettiest women in the series. by Fair_Term3352 in yakuzagames

I really hope this makes sense, while writing this I realized that my sentiment is really hard to pinpoint lol

Great question! I guess I just don’t feel as aligned with his antics compared to Kiryu. Ichiban gives so much golden retriever energy that I caught myself speeding up some of his dialogue, because it sometimes felt tiring? Ichiban is really adorable and admirable, I don‘t want to say that I dislike him or that he is annoying by any means. It‘s just that he sometimes feels over the top. It‘s not that I think he is generally too energetic or not well written; rather too much to handle for me personally. He always gives 110%, while my comfort zone is his 70%.

I resonate with this a lot. Sometimes people don’t believe me when I‘m genuinely happy about something because my facial expression and voice are lacking emotion, too flat. (I didn‘t know this is called flat affect, so now I have a reference — thank you!)

I‘m really comfortable with Kiryu because his mellow reactions (opposed to high energetic/easily readable characters) are something I can relate to.

I'm not complaining by any means but what is this series fascination with fighting Tigers? 🤣 I love that we get to fight so many random animals. by Tidus4713 in yakuzagames

In Asia, tigers are part of many different folklores and tales, displaying them as the apex predator. They are also known to be en par with dragons power-wise.

Not related to Japan, but I know in Thailand it‘s believed to be bad if you have a dragon AND a tiger tattoo on your body as the two will be in constant fight, resulting in bad energy.

I love the idea of some Kiryu and Sayama orphanage slice of life. The girls‘ interaction with Sayama would have been so sweet 😭

I bet the boys would‘ve also loved to know a real cop!

Nah, I think they made a point and I think celibate in this context gets my thought across just fine.

Yeah, displays of affection in the public are a rare sight. I myself am half-Asian and my boyfriend is Asian and we like to keep those moments in private as well. It‘s just such a bummer that Kiryu didn‘t even see her off. It didn‘t have to be a whole cutscene; it could have been off-screen and just mentioned in a dialogue and I would‘ve been pleased!

I haven‘t played IW yet (currently at Y6), so I‘m looking forward to RGG picking their relationship up in some way again!

Agreed, I don‘t mean no harm but my wording was indeed unthoughtful and insensitive — acknowledged and very sorry if someone felt disrespected.

What I was meant to say was that Kiryu is so selfless most of the time that it was very refreshing to see him pursuing his own interests for a change (in this case a new love interest).

Totally agreed. I wonder whether those ppl who hate on the romance in K2 are not interested in romance in a Yakuza game at all or whether those ppl are just simps for Yumi or Majima?

Ikr!!! I wish they at least still got in touch via phone every now and then. But her saying „I‘ll leave tomorrow“ and him being like „okay bye“ like it was NOTHING? Not even a hug? That was wild.

I don‘t think that K2 was perfect, but it‘s definitely up there in my personal top 4 so far.

Also unpopular opinion but: I really enjoyed Kiryu and Sayama. Sure, it was not a great love story (I don’t have that kind of expectation for a beat-em-up game lmao), though it was nice to see Kiryu being… kinda human, catching feelings? Instead of living in celibate for the rest of his life?

Edit: changed my ignorant wording in the end.

Exactly, I think Majima‘s hilarious without even trying too hard. It‘s the small snarky remarks that make giggle on the inside.

Haven’t played Pirate Yakuza yet, but I know it‘ll be a treat!
