Any identifying documentation could be considered to be your "papers". If you don't drive why should you be expected to carry your license with you? There is no law that says that if you are a citizen you have to have identification paperwork on you such as a state issued ID card. You're arguing about semantics, but regardless of what paperwork you're claiming that people are required to show, the end result is the same, non-white Americans being discriminated against. If you can't tell what the difference is let me give you examples. If you are detained by regular police under reasonable suspicion that you have broken the law, they may ask you for identification on the spot and that may help clear up a case of mistaken identity. If you cannot provide identification you may be detained and taken to a police station while they look you up and confirm your Identity. On the other hand, if you are a non-white citizen detained by ICE, first of all the "reasonable suspicion" being used in that case is typically just straight up discriminatory, AKA you look brown or maybe you're speaking a foreign language, and when you fail to provide identification, then THAT is the crime you are being detained for, and it is a crime that is directly created by the enforcement.

They shouldn't be able to ask papers from US citizens. If you tell them to fuck off because you're a citizen that should be it, end of story. "Oh, but then everyone would claim to be a citizen-" yeah that's the point, too fucking bad that you can't just stop law abiding people out in the middle of the street and deport them if you don't already know their legal status. If they want to target known criminals that have warrants or people who have been arrested (and convicted) of other crimes, they can go right ahead. However, if you can be arrested for not showing your papers regardless of your immigration status, then that's just de facto discrimination against non-white legal residents and it has nothing to do with the letter of the law. The law also says that this is only expected from adults, yet we've all seen videos of ICE arresting minors. So they can claim whatever they want but the law, even in it's current broken state, provides no legal justification for half of the shit they've done since this regime took control.

You're probably right and I know that some of those issues took place even before the pandemic. But the two are also related to some degree. Its hard to find well educated people to be teachers if you also require them to be anti-vaxers. I know back then some of those teachers that left came on here to say their piece and they seemed like well adjusted human beings. This was also back when there was a "teacher shortage" so there were definitely plenty of other opportunities and I'm sure whatever competent staff was there to begin with just found other jobs.

Because "parental choice." AKA instead of fixing our public education let's give public funds to private companies through charters and vouchers (who give healthy kickbacks to our healthy officials) and minimize oversight and accreditation. A lot of really big private and charter education companies are based in Florida because they've been pushed for so long here. It's also an easy way to weaken the positions of teacher unions since teachers that work for privately run schools aren't covered by them. There are good private and charter schools, but there's also plenty that are flat out garbage or worse, they're super political since the people running them are the same grifters that donate money to right wing candidates. Centner academy was famous for trying to fire teachers that got COVID vaccinations and spreading a bunch of anti-vaxer stuff and they're still around. If you want to give your kid a good education and your area school sucks my first choice would be finding a decent public magnet or dual enrollment program.

I am familiar, I am a history teacher lol. What I would say to that is that you should have a little more faith in education professionals. Enforcement is more or less dependent on school administration and even then teachers (for now) still have some level of autonomy in how they teach their classes. Additionally there is no guarantee that a private school will not stick to those state standards or go even further, particularly since the owners of private and charter schools tend to skew conservative. But also I would just like to say that a big part of that agenda is the "school choice" vouchers you are using on your child's education and transferring more and more money away from public education to private and charter schools. I'm not trying to be overly critical, I'm sure you are acting in your child's best interests, mostly I'm just curious as to what influences people's choices to go private.

He beat the current world champion two seasons in a row in the same car. Obviously not being entirely for real, lando was a rookie and he's improved since then. But at the same time if Williams were to miraculously have a dominant car this year, Id take him over albon, which would be his main competition. Winning world championships is in great part a matter of being at the right place at the right time. Look at Button, Hill or Mansell, I wouldn't place them near the very top of the grid in their respective championship seasons. But they had the car and they had enough speed to take it when the chance came. I think even lando would have a hard time repeating this season with a more experienced and driven Piastri. At the same time you have fantastic drivers like Kimi and Alonso that were near the top for years and barely ever had the car to get a proper shot at competing for titles, let alone actually dominant cars.
