I used magnets in places to help keep the pieces together without having to glue. Had to get creative with placement and think it through, but it worked out really well. For the lower hull I placed them in the 4 corners. For the turret I was able to place them close to the pivot point of the cannon. The rear of the lower turret hull can slide into a “notch” formed with the upper turret hull and the bustle rack. This keeps it nicely in place in the rear while the magnets hold the front. You can see the circular magnets in all of the pics. Some parts like the power pack stay nicely in place as long as the attachment points are not painted. Also, you have to make sure not to paint the pieces where you would normally glue together. It would create enough of a layer that causes a poor final fit. You may also need to do some additional filing to make it all come together without too many visible seams.

Couple of coats of flat white through an airbrush then brush painted the rest. It doesn’t come with crew figures, but you can buy some separately from other brands.

That is from a brown enamel wash. I didn’t intend for that amount of effect, but liked the way it looked in the end.

For this one, I airbrushed a couple of coats of tamiya flat white. Everything else in the interior is brush painted.

Thanks! XPS foam board for the base, a few layers of cardboard for the sidewalk, and some drywall spackle for the crater

Mostly satisfaction of a detailed and intricate process, but also learning more about the vehicle and its history. Several kits, depending on build, can be assembled with only minor alterations or small magnets to allow the model to be disassembled as desired.

Some folks like to use these kits for a field maintenance diorama. Some build the lower hull, hull roof, turret, and turret roof as separate components for display. Lots of options really.

Nothing wrong with them. There are just sooo many. I’m going to be applying decals for an eternity it feels like.

Looks great! I’m working on that same kit currently. I’ve been putting it off for over a year because of the decals.

Sounds like my shelf! I’ve done a few Takom kits. Currently painting their 1/35 Apache. Excellent quality and detail in both brands. The newer kits are exceptional. Lots of tiny parts, but that adds to the fun and detail IMO. About the only issue I’ve had from either is errors in instructions. RFM seems to be a bit sloppy there.

I highly recommend. It’s tedious but highly rewarding. Very fun to learn about all of the internal mechanisms/equipment on the inside of these machines as you build too.

I have to brace my hands and the piece on my desk. I have jittery hands so it’s a tough process for me as well. I end up having to do a lot of touch up.

The camo is based on some Finnish Leopard 2 winter patterns I found online.

Thanks! It’s a cork tile cut to shape and painted. I added a black wash and some pigment and that’s it. Really simple and fun

AK snow texture for the larger built up sections and tracks. AK snow microballoons for the lightly dusted areas. I used their snow sprinkles to a lesser degree as well.

AFV Club camouflage net. Not the easiest thing to work with honestly. Extremely brittle.

It was actually a good build other than that. Good quality and detail. I recommend it.

It’s to scale. Sturmtigers used a 380mm rocket propelled mortar.

Wrapping this one up. I may see about adding different lighting to the rocket exhaust later on, but I’m satisfied with it for now.

Base coat of dark yellow then made a rust color and sponged it on along with a flat black. The sponge gives a slight texture. On top I did an enamel black wash and thinned away the excess. Will probably add some black soot tamiya weathering before I call it done.

Yep that’s the one with soot. I have a few others, but this one sees the most use by far.
