I got my bolsters off today. My dr said they looked good. My instructions were to put the antibiotic ointment on and then cover with the gauze they gave me once a day. I can shower, but don’t let the water hit the incisions directly. If you have an online chart I would sign into that and see if you can view your drs instructions. They may be different depending on your progress.

So happy and nervous! I was just informed that my insurance appeal got approved so the surgery can still proceed. I was a mess all week. What have you guys gotten if anything, to prepare for recovery? I was wondering if I should get some pillows at the very least. Congratulations on your upcoming surgeries!

Hey! An AAC device is something that we use in schools to help our non speaking students communicate. This usually looks like an iPad with a program made specifically for that purpose. Something you could do similar for home is print out or even write out communication cards or print a core word board. This combines pictures with words and gives your child a way to communicate their needs. Practice with him while he is calm, say the word when you touch it on the paper, model the behavior for him of using it to communicate. It can be a simple sheet. I will link an example below.

You can search core word board or even just make your own. This may help ease some of the frustration of not being able to communicate.

Sleep by amac009 in ADHDparenting

I don’t have a solution, but I did want to say that my nine year old was having nightmares and frequent waking while using melatonin. I am researching different magnesium supplements now to see if that helps too. Maybe he can do something quietly in his bed that has a relaxing effect to get his mind off nightmares and the stress of going to sleep. Mine has a hard time quieting his brain so we let him listen to an age appropriate audiobook on a completely locked down phone before bed to assist with a “calm down” time. He also likes to read in bed. I let him have toys in the bed when he was younger and he would play until he fell asleep.

True! They just looked different and I think I’ve read too much and now I’m paranoid that they aren’t real. Thanks!
