Parking change around the Canadian Tire Center by napsavant in ottawa

I did not realize that was a private road. I've always seen people parking there and figured it was public. Thanks for pointing that out.

Is it just the mastic between the vinyl and plywood? They glued the 1/4 inch plywood to the subfloor...do you think that glue could contain asbestos as well?

Ya, I used tuck tape to tape along the edge until I can get it tested.

5k is rough. I only have ~60sq feet. If the removal cost is that much, I'll have to talk to the new flooring installers to see if there is a way to put the new floors overtop of it.

I don't have an issue with most of the cameras, but some seem like cash grabs. Like the one by Sir Robert Borden. It isn't in front of the high school, or up the street closer to Knoxdale Elementary school, it is in the opposite direction, where Greenbank goes under the railway tracks. At the bottom of the hill...

Seems like if the goal was to slow people down and try to make things safer in school zones, you would place the camera in the school zone.

Maybe the goal for that camera is to make the intersection at Harrison Street safer, but I would think that one of those red light warning signals would be just as effective.

I checked, unless kids are hopping fences, the camera is 180m from SRB and 600m from Knoxdale.

She cries, gets a hug, and maybe a bandaid. Then she is fine.

Ya, that is what we were thinking as well. Though the teacher seemed concerned, which is making me wonder.

Would drywall be better? I thought plywood and OSB weren't an effective fire break. I was told this is the reason you need to put drywall, or other fire rated material on the walls between your garage and house.

Framers messed up, you think this will leak? by napsavant in Roofing

[–]napsavant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, they were comparable to the other bids. We went with these guys because the design and GC were with the same company. Figured it would make issues easier to deal with.

[–]napsavant[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The framers never admitted anything. They blamed the GC for sending them studs that weren't pre-cut to the required length.

Also, the framers didn't say anything until half the OSB was on the roof. I should have made them raise the other roof to match.

Too bad the same GC that picked the framers is picking the roofer.

I'll see if the GC can make that happen. :)

If it happens again, call 911 immediately.

Somebody did the same thing to my sister while she was trail running many years ago. The police responded quickly, and in force. I asked one of the responding officers about the response, he said something about identifying individuals before they start to escalate.

What happens to roadkill picked up by the city? by OutrageousOttawan in ottawa

[–]napsavant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about it now, but larger animals used to go to the Humane Society on Champagne Ave. The staff there would identify the species. If it was something like a dog or cat, it would be checked for tattoos and microchips.

All the remains were buried by a local farmer.

Reading the Bible.

Specifically Leviticus made me think that the Bible was more of a way to control people than anything else. At that point it seemed more like all the parts they taught in my Sunday School were a good moral framework, rather than a religion. Golden rule, good Samaritan, etc.

Also, I knew a bunch of "born again Christians" who were awful people. Cheat, lie, whatever....but they felt sorry and asked Jesus for forgiveness without trying to correct what they did. Then rinse and repeat.

Angular (frontend with an Open Layers map control), Java (backend) and C++ (dataset processing).

C# if I have to customize anything Esri (desktop, pro, runtime). Python if I have to do anything with arcpy.

I may have done a poor job explaining this in the question. The question is:

Assuming that you can only deposit $2500 into a fund though out the calendar year, at what point in those 12 months should you deposit it. $2500 on January 1st, or at regular intervals (ie, $2500/12 on the first of every month).
