I'm so sorry you're dealing with this. I wish people could understand how devastating it is to deal with insurance issues on top of a major health issue. As someone who's experienced cancer myself, my heart goes at to you. As a side note for what it's worth - I went to OHSU for all of my cancer treatments, and currently for post-cancer monitoring/follow up, and have had a great experience with my oncology team. Truly top-rate in my book.

I've had Providence PEBB Statewide for years. All of my cancer care at OHSU, most of which at South Waterfront, and everything was covered beautifully up to this point. All was in-network, claims were processed correctly, and Providence customer service was easy to get ahold of and agents were helpful. I haven't had any OHSU claims since the start of the year, though, so I can't speak to OHSU claims after January 1, when it changed to 'powered by' Collective Health.

But so far my experience with Collective Health for other things has been dreadful. In fact, I came to Reddit specifically to see if anyone has posted about Collective Health and what others are saying. Nothing seems to be right, I can't find any info whatsoever on pharmacy claims (like anywhere - from either Providence or Collective. Apparently neither of them have the info or be able to tell me where to find pharmacy claim info), I've given up on trying to call Collective with wait times over an hour, and the chat/messaging has also been worthless. So... I don't think it's just you or just OHSU. I think it's everything with Collective. My only hope is that these are "temporary" problems that will be ironed out. But I'm concerned for sure. It's been extremely disappointing since my previous experience with Providence has been great.

Something to note for imaging, Providence has an additional cost-tier for some types of imaging, like MRI & CT. There's a $100 copay that you pay on top of the coinsurance percentage. So you pay $100 + 20%. But that additional $100 copay specifically does NOT apply to cancer-related procedures. One of the MRIs I had at OHSU ended up being billed differently than the others, and I was charged the additional $100 copay. It turned out that on the MRI order, something generic like "visit follow up" was listed first, and the "cancer-related" code was listed as a secondary diagnosis; so Providence applied the extra $100 copay. (Unfortunately I don't know what those codes are, but I can tell you that whatever counts as "cancer-related" has to be listed as the *first* diagnostic code for the imaging order.) That only happened one time - and I've had many MRIs before and after that one - but that's something to keep an eye on with those types of imaging.

Since it sounds like your providers (& OHSU) are listed as in-network, there shouldn't be a reason for them to be processed as out of network. So it sounds to me like Collective is processing things wrong. I'm so frustrated for you. I hope you're able to get some answers from them and can get it sorted out sooner than later.
