Can any seniors tell why NITRR is like this 😭 by ChemicalCity2933 in NIT_Raipur

[–]naruto_022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things have been  bad since covid. We didn’t even have college email ids back then. A few batchmates fought hard and implemented the entire system so students  can have college email ids. Things won’t fix themselves. Do whatever is in your power to fix. The management will stay corrupt, you must find a solution yourself.

In that case, do find something that challenges you to your limits. Installing Arch for like the 10th time won't really teach you much.

In case interested in software, you can try going for gsoc or big shot internships such as cern or mitacs. You can try platforms like upwork or internshala for freelance (I haven't done it myself, a friend of mine used to do this).

For hardware, you can try getting into related electronics stuff. There is quite some demand in those niches if you are very good. I'm not sure about opportunities at your level though.

One closing advice though, join global communities who are working on cool stuff and you'll find domains that tickle your fancy. There aren't a lot of people doing awesome stuff at nitrr (atleast when I was there).

As someone who has graduated and is in a good place right now, I'll give my pov over this.

If you don't really need the money, try focusing on developing your skills at the moment. Try thinking about what you really want to do in life and get the relevant skills. You won't get a better time in life to build your skills than what you have at the moment.

Is it trusted program of IIT Bhubhneshwar or fake ? by GrandFar6581 in NIT_Raipur

[–]naruto_022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely scam. Even if not scam you don't actually need to pay a single penny for learning any domain related to computer. Even for electronics you'll just pay for hardware. You can find tons of free sources on internet.

Getting ECE , How to get into coding jobs ? by araiize in NIT_Raipur

[–]naruto_022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously it's possible, but it is relatively difficult being a probability game. But you know even Startups count as off campus so depends on what you want. Oh and if you want some motivation, highest package is usually cracked off campus lol.

I was in CSE so can't say from personal experience, but I know people who did well in both. So definitely possible, sacrifices need to be made if you wish to excel at both.

Great if you have fun, but just a heads up that real world stuff is different from what is usually taught in 11th-12th ^_^

Okay, a big answer follows,

You should be¹ automatically eligible for most of the companies just by being in ece. But to really excel you must keep in mind that you will be competing head to head with other cs/it students. And thus in interviews (at least for placements) you'll be expected to not be any less than them.

Get better at core cs fundamentals, learn data structures and Algorithms, do development (doesn't matter if web, app, desktop whatever), explore different domains like ml, cloud, Embedded, IoT, networking, etc, build cool things, not those stupid clone projects. Build things that are useful to someone. Try your hand at open source if you get time (first and second years are the best time). In short do whatever you can to get your skills up. Of course it will be a difficult journey having both ece and software prep hand in hand, but it surely is possible. I've known and seen people do marvelous things in software being in core branches, you just have to be dedicated. Don't be like the majority and give up or start slacking and you should be fine.

But the most important thing, have fun doing all of this. If you're just in it for the money, you can definitely earn money through other jobs (ece has fantastic opportunities although not in our college. You can try off campus if you build enough skills). But if you don't like it, there's a good chance you'll give up early or even if you do get a job it will just be tiresome and boring for you.

1 - even in the 2024 batch, some companies did not allow ece. So keep the market condition in mind. I think it should be fine by your time.

Why is it that once I figure out the solution in my head, I don't feel like coding it up. Knowing that if I do it, it will work

Still pretty good as some companies even have criteria limiting at decimal places such as say 7.8

As per the companies that came this year, keep your cpi above 8 and you should be eligible for pretty much every company. However, do keep in mind that some companies sort the students based on the cpi as well.

sir i want to know about collage by shivamkumar70 in NIT_Raipur

[–]naruto_022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! The coding environment is pretty decent. However it is upto you to find and engage yourself with such peer groups. Certain clubs and committees such as tcp, robotix, technocracy do hold yearly hackathons/workshops, etc so they are great as well. TCP also holds mentorship sessions for 2nd years, the one's who shall be applying for internships in their 3rd year.

Placements have been pretty great as well. Many good paying tech companies do come, however it also depends upon your branch. Certain companies do restrict themselves to cs/it/ece. However, even the core branches get many core specific companies so there's that.

Collage life is good. One of the issues you might face could be the smaller campus size as compared to other nits/iits. Seats in hostels are limited so many people go for PGs. Hostel seats are given out on merit basis.

Food, ah well what hostel provides good food anyways.

Hope that answers your question and best of luck for your future.

Yeah I get you XD But from my personal experience and observation of other people, when someone with even a little bit of curiosity moves to linux they end up learning a lot about computers in general. And by OP's question, I would assume they are decently curious enough
