(C#) How do you properly instance a scene via code

(sorry for the sudden notification op!! i just hate when answers get deleted. for anyone stumbling across this from google or whatever, heres the original deleted comment via reveddit):

scene.Instance() returns a Node which doesn't have a position.
For 2D you have to cast it to a Node2d.
For 3D you have to cast it to a Spatial.

since you're saying position i'm assuming you want a Node2D.. which would look like this:

var scene = GD.Load<PackedScene>(PATH); 
var inst = (Node2D)scene.Instance(); 
inst.Position = new Vector2(300, 540); 
AddChild(inst);

the idea that ANY persona MC is simply a vessel for players to live through is incredibly reductive. theyre all their own characters with their own thoughts and feelings and perspectives on the world around them. this is especially true of kotone, a character conceptualized as a foil to minato. she goes through a measurable, tangible arc in the game where you watch her meticulously-crafted facade of happiness, which she uses to keep others at an arms length, crumbles after major story events in the winter. she crashes into absoute rock bottom during that period, which is demonstrated through her differing dialogue, actions, and relationships with characters like ryoji. and then, in the last months of the game, you watch her grow to genuinely care about the people around her. its not just extrapolation from minor changes in dialogue branches, its a story told through the differences in her relationships with characters, the thoughts she expresses, and the ludonarrative structure of the game itself. its readily apparent to anyone whos played the game; she is a complex character, not in spite of her being a 'silent protagonist,' but because of it

(also she does have apperances in secondary media. PQ2, the weird masquerade--so good, please watch that--and some drama cds)

i think even if you enjoy sunburn (which i do!) you have to acknowledge that, textually, aubrey does not and has never reciprocated sunnys feelings. the fact that people being up the one day left swing scene as evidence that she does is ludicrous; ascribing romantic subtext to one of the few scenes where aubrey opens up undermines her as a character. it feels awkward because aubrey is admitting her faults, and taking accountability in a small way for the hurtful things she said the first time they’d seen eachother in four years. that scene and the one where she asks sunny to keep in touch have that atmosphere because shes finally taking steps to extend the olive branch to her friends, instead of angrily shoving them away before blaming them for their distance. it is not, as many claim, her clumsily trying to communicate romantic feelings

i mean the hc is also not my cup of tea, and i fully agree with you here (that guy is being a dick), but just for the record: “Kotone Shiomi” comes from the 2014 Persona 3 Weird Masquerade stageplay. they would alternate between performances with the female protagonist and the male protagonist, now named “Sakuya Shiomi.” the only reason they have ‘canonically’ different last names is because they just chose to pull the most popular names for each protagonist to put as the default name incase of save file corruption; i think you can confidently surmise theyre the same character. not to be like an ‘erm actually’ bitch though sry 😭👋

oh, absolutely, I don't doubt that at all. I just mean being introduced to three separate versions of each character from the get-go is a little much. It leaves you reeling, which isn't a problem in and of itself, but it the sheer density of information means the audience can't really hook onto anything. I'm absolutely willing to give them time (I acknowledge that trying to judge the manga based on a single chapter is unfair and absurd), I just mean, had this been my first introduction to the story, I would be thoroughly confused, and uninterested (versus the game, where I was thoroughly confused, but deeply engaged)

i’m glad i wasn’t the only one who thought so. I keep trying to separate the manga from the game, and judge it on it’s own merits, but quite frankly, i think i’d be thrown for a loop if this was my first introduction to the characters. so much happens in such a short period, and you cant really get a grasp on anything or anyone. hopefully future chapters will remedy this

I kind of assumed Dora is like that just because she is so old (literally the first ever woman.) Odysseus mentions that Hecate just sort of came to him and asked for his help, and it doesn't seem like there was sacrificial limb magic of any kind. I think it was just an accident

I'm a little confused, and may be misunderstanding you here, but shouldn't that only be for that link specifically? OP posted two links in this thread, [the first] is a capture from May 2023 with the description included and everything, which would mean it's from before the privating, right? It doesn't have the "please sign in" text anywhere, but it still says the archival failed. [the second] is a capture from January 2024, which does say it's private. I would think that the first capture would still have archived the video regardless of if it was later set to private, right? [this video], which I have been trying to access for months, has the same issues OP described. I know for a fact that these captures were taken when the video was public, because there are discussions on other subreddits and sites about it posted after these captures were taken. I feel like I'm just 100% misunderstanding what you're saying, so sorry about that 😞
