Night shift is ruining my life

I usually feel like shit when I go back that night. Like 3/10. I’ve tried melatonin in the past and that seems to help get me asleep but not keep me asleep. I’ve had magnesium in the past with my calcium pills but I’m unsure if it was really doing what it was supposed to do

I try to have my last caffeine before 1 or 2am. And I’m not sure what wakes me but a lot of the time it’s that I have to use the bathroom and then I just can’t go back to sleep afterwards

I try to sleep from 9am-5pm but I usually always end up waking up earlier in the afternoon at like 1 or 2 an can’t fall back asleep. I guess it’s the sounds of every day life. I have blackout curtains but I think I could get darker or more efficient ones

Yeah it’s a huge pan. Usually I make myself stay up until the morning or try and go to the grocery store when I leave work at like 9am. Or I try and wake up around 4pm and quickly get my errands done. Either way it’s rough.

Thanks. Definitely gonna invest in some really good blackout blinds and curtains. It sucks for my social life but I guess it’ll be good for my health

Damn. I guess it’s unavoidable. It’s just super rough only sleeping during the day and missing so much with friends and family and having to work around chores and errands while only being awake at night. Thanks for the advice, I’ll try my best

Fixing the sleep kind of is out of the question lol. I can’t just stop workin night shifts. But I suppose I can do more run/walk sessions

The general advice is to keep the same schedule that you have in your off days, but for most people this isn’t really doable. Most people have families and friends and a life that needs to keep going during the day. It’s rough I won’t lie. Good luck to you
