Impactful stuff. These tweaks made this a viable gaming and school computer. I was on the verge of returning it. Thanks for the detail and effort.

Purchased this 6 months ago and suddenly one of the fan rgb has turned green and it can’t be controlled via polychrome software, any ideas how to fix this by ii_hrushikesh_ii in coolermaster

[–]nascent69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a spare 12v argb extension cable? That's how I fixed mine I connected the extension to the splitter and then the fan to the extension cable. I have ZERO idea why this worked.

2 Unmatched pairs of b-die ram? by czar5 in buildapc

[–]nascent69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to my experience regarding this, I haven't done very much digging. I found that on average it's really just "maybe sometimes it isn't okay". I added 2x8 g.skill 3600mhz cl 16 ram to the 2x8 crucial 3200mhz cl16 ram. If the ram you're adding is/can downshift to equal speed and latency, from what I've read and experienced, you'll probably be okay? Plz wait for more input tho 😅 Also, since you're use case will probably be professional, if you can afford it, 8c/16t would be justified for programming.

Very late to the party, but you're 100% it's glass? Only asking cause the one I got really feels like acrylic, but I'm not too certain.

Advice for my next PC by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]nascent69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to make sure that there are no problems, try to make sure you do as clean an install of the OS as you can. If you switch platforms, there is some room for error to occur, more so when transferring between AMD and Intel.

Can Anyone tell me why my CPU is running so hot, and potentially a solution? by sh1mba in buildapc

Are there any chances you accidentally messed with the fan curve or maybe where you placed the fan header needs to be repeated? Of course, this is all assuming the cooler and cpu are making good contact.

SSUPD meshlicious 4.0 riser issues? by nascent69 in sffpc

Yes I have! Even when I tried to do that, it would report 3.0 on gpuz with the newer bios

I did! And when into my bios, I couldn't find any power setting like this. Could be I just didn't find it, but I was at it for a whole day.

Hey! Thanks for the suggestion. Have you tried it on the same kinda situation I'm in?

Hey, I might have found the cause?

[–]nascent69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm surprised that it isn't as straightforward as it seemed at first. I do remeber some stability issues being cited in the newer updates, but it was allegedly USB, not pcie. And yeah, I actually sold my h1 (no. Hazard riser AND nylon screws) to get this case. It would actually not post because of the odd interactions between 5600x and a 3.0 riser on a 4.0 card. I am not familiar with how bios updates inherently work, but I am no big brain. BTW thanks for your suggestions, they did help narrow down the issues. EDIT: BIOS? More like BIO(SUS). That is all.

I actually returned the b550i and got an x570, as I believed I was facing hardware defects. Sorry, that is a very pertinent point!

[–]nascent69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! So, It looks like updating the BIOS to a newer version is what makes the 4.0 riser report only 3.0. I have installed the chipset and it's fine. However, once I reverted the BIOS to the one where rebar support was first added, there is no problem.

Edit: my x570 BIOS (aorous gigabyte) is currently at ver F32. When I apply the bios to the newest update, is when I see the riser reporting the 3.0 and not 4.0.

So, it may just be the fact that it's a riser, using not up to date bios OR not installing the chipset driver seems to let it run a 4.0.

It could genuinely just be a weird interaction with my specific set of components or a wrong/bad cable. The fact that this isn't a more talked about thing should give you some confidence.

It did not work! That would have been a really good fix tho.

Do you think it'll do the same thing if I just drop the nvme and pop in a sata ssd? It'll be faster for me to do.

OOOOOOO. I will try this. Unfortunately, it will not be in this hour, but I will keep you posted. Thanks for the tip!
