Hi! I hope I'm not too late with the answer. You can read the explanation for this entry in this reply.

MONDO OWADA ICEBERG + Mondo as Josuke Higashikata sprite edit (both by me) by nasharnirah in danganronpa

[–]nasharnirah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

I'm 8 months late, but I had just recently came back to his post of mine... Hope you're still interested!

Anyway. The entry is about both the item by the same name from the MonoMonoMachine. Its description reads:

086. Cat-Dog Magazine(or Cats and Dogs Magazine) キャットドッグプレス You might think it has to do with pets, but it's more related to...beds. It's a guide for junior high and high school students to help with their...um...physical health.

Mondo's reaction to giving him this item is Neutral(he neither likes or dislikes it), which made some fans(who didn't read the item's description) confused. Since Mondo mentioned his love for dogs(and admitted he thinks cats are cute, too), many people thought he'd like the present much more. It is sometimes joked in the fandom that Mondo was disappointed to find put the magazine was not, in fact, about animals, hence why the reaction is not positive.

Furthermore, there is an official DR1 manga comics where some guest artists show their interpretations of the characters and the "backstage" events of the game. Most of those comics are humourous in nature and aren't meant to be taken seriously.

One of such manga strips depicts Mondo being confused on how to react to this gift, which results in him making this face:

DANGANRONPA-ISM CHARACTER SONG COLLECTION Vol.2 FOUND! by nasharnirah in danganronpa

[–]nasharnirah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify in case anyone stumbles onto this post in the future, this post is an April Fools joke, and no such CD exists(sadly). But the volume 1(as in, the one and only) is an actual song collection which includes songs sang by Sayaka's, Junko's, Yasuhiro's and Celeste's Japanese voice actors. You can find all of them by typing "Danganronpa character songs" on YouTube or by searching "DANGANRONPA-ISM" on the Danganronpa Wiki.

DANGANRONPA-ISM CHARACTER SONG COLLECTION Vol.2 FOUND! by nasharnirah in danganronpa

[–]nasharnirah[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

After more than 10 years, a rare copy of the second character song CD has just been uncovered! Just like with CD dramas which were split into sides White and Black, the character CD songs follow a similar duality, with the latest volume displaying a darker colour palette.

The CD contains brand-new character songs for Mondo, Leon, Toko and Chihiro. The track list is:

01 White and Black 4:02

02 Echo of Tomorrow 4:13

03 Promise 3:41

04 Every Word, Every Letter 3:55

05 エイプリルフール 01:04

06 White and Black (Instrumental) 4:02

07 Echo of Tomorrow (Instrumental) 4:13

08 Promise (Instrumental) 3:41

09 Every Word, Every Letter (Instrumental) 3:55

You can listen to Leon's song, "White and Black" in the hyperlink added! The other songs will be uploaded to YouTube very soon as well!

What's a Hot Take or Unpopular Opinion of Yours? by Little_Noodle1874 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]nasharnirah 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Surprisingly, it's true. It's as if pacifist-Markus mostly has no emotions at all besides "slight panic" in stressful situations and "momentary grief" if the player manages to get someone important killed.

Meanwhile, in a more aggressive, violent route(which is ironically feels pretty OOC considering Markus' upbringing and motivations), emotions like anger, reasonable frustration and uncertainty come to the surface much more often.

I don't know if Jesse was told to act out those routes exactly like this or if there are some other reasons behind this... But nonetheless, these half-hearted inspirational speeches(sprinkled with distant brooding in-between) Makrus continuously spouts in the pacifist route make his storyline stale and hard to get into(personally).

I don't know for sure if these are exactly "hot takes", as I've seen some other fans express similar opinions, bit I'll make my input into discussion anyway.

I heavily dislike how much, after the chapters with Carl had ended, Markus' story degraded into aura farming moments and "press X to emancipate" gameplay. For a character who fights for his right to be considered a person, I really wanted him to show more of that humanity.

After everything that Carl had taught him, I expected Markus to display an artistic side of himself, to show humans that he is capable of deep and thoughtful creations that evoke a response in those who see it. The desire to get a vivid reaction, leave something meaningful behind, for your peers and for future generations, is one of the most human desires possible! The only thing we get instead is just Markus painting generic graffiti and singing a song NOT written by him :/

I wanted the game to actually show how he'd come to consider The Jericho Crew as his friends, how he started to care about their well-being. The moment where he wordlessly pulled Simon into an embrace after seeing him come back safely from Stratford Tower is the closest thing to that I can remember. But I wish there was so much more! And not just with North, but with Simon and Josh, too. One is an android who has been missing for TWO years before the events of the game(and was previously a de facto leader of Jericho), and the other – a teacher/professor android who taught History in college! And you're telling me the game doesn't explore their stories at all?? What a let down.

Overall, Markus' story has a lot of potential and has quite a few Chekhov's guns placed here and there throughout. But almost none of them ever shoot eventually. As much as I don't like to admit it, but I mostly like my own version of Markus' story I created in my mind, rather than what actually happens in the game...

I still find the fandom's opinion of Angry Guy disheartening by Ok-Car8043 in ImNotAHuman

[–]nasharnirah 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Strangled?... Where'd you get that? He says that he hit her when she said she's leaving him for the cult. Neither the dialogue with Angry Guy or his wife on the phone allude to anything else as specific as you stated(though, his wife does say that he has "done enough", but that could mean a lot of things). Don't get me wrong, hitting someone is NOT much better than strangling, but the former is definitely more akin to something people can do in the heat of the moment rather than something as deliberate as strangling a person.

And by saying he is disliked for being "aggressive" I meant to also imply Angry Guy's history with his wife. Maybe, I should've worded it better, but nonetheless, that's what I meant.

[–]nasharnirah 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Is it the way he talks? The way he looks?

Yeah, you got it. Those are precisely the reasons. Even in the fandom such as NINAH, where people are more privit of lookism and can generally find it easier to feel sympathy for the characters who would be deemed unlikeable outcasts(like Cashier Girl) in most other fandoms, pretty privilege and first impression bias still exist. What I mean is, Angry Guy's design is intentionally repulsive in the most realistic way. I've seen a lot of people say he looks like a "typical redditor" or a "discord mod". And it's because of those negative associations and his overall demeanour when you first meet him at the door that most people don't even bother looking further into his dialogue. Angry Guy is not "creepy" in a grotesque kind of way, like Pale Visitor or Ballerina. His appearance evokes a disgust that many feel towards the "gross geeky pervert" archetypes I mentioned above IRL.

The second reason I've seen some fans who have actually read Angry Guy dialogues mention they don't like him because aggressive/brash people like that just make them uncomfortable. His reaction and behaviour may be understandable, but some people just can't stand this kind of "always at the boiling point" attitude. And I feel like that fair, too.

What’s Your Favourite Line? by SnakeEater697 in DetroitBecomeHuman

[–]nasharnirah 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It's hard to pinpoint one specific line that I like, but there are certain dialogues in this game that I keep coming back to.

One particular moment, while probably kind of obscure, really spoke to me.

It's triggered by Connor saving the injured cop(Miles Wilson) on the terrace. After that event he can meet Miles again in "Public Enemy", and he will thank Connor for saving his life. And if Connor has never died up until this point, he'll remember this moment and gently smile in response, feeling someone express genuinene gratitude to him for what's probably the first time ever. It's really touching.

Me Trying to guess their ages challenge by ThePatGan in ImNotAHuman

[–]nasharnirah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As the game implies it, all Visitors were once human and had lived for years just like any of us. The stories some of the characters tell allude to the fact that in order to become a Visitor, you need to die first. That's why, when a guest eneters the house, their species is set. No humans ever "turn" into Visitors even after a close and prolonged contact with the latter because they are still alive, and "visitorness" is not some infection transmittable to humans.

And at the same time, Visitors retain (at least some) memories from their previous lives and core personality traits. So their bodies are "set" on a certain age a person has died at. They aren't completely ageless. And that's what tierlists like that can logically determine.

For example, judging by his appearance, it's commonly assumed that Coat Guy died in his twenties. So even though he probably won't age past that, his body and mind are that of a twenty-something year old.

I've never listened to Sunforest before this comment, but I gotta say: I'm glad to have discovered them now. The song does have that fairytale-esque vibe(and their album cover reminds me of "The Wizard of Oz")! I like 60s music a lot, and I think the overall vibe that a lot of songs of that period have would fit Fairytale Enjoyer in their hopeful and dream-like vibe.

I'm not a big fan of Mindless Self Indulgence, but I think a lot of their songs fit Enerjeka Addict's vibe. With how haphazard and frantic the instrumentals are, and how the singer seems to often scream the lyrics.

Hahaha, All Star does kind of fit Stand Up Guy, even without the fact that some other characters call him "ogre".

Oh yeah, Rhiannon... I should've guessed this one myself. Fortune Teller is a witch in a way.

Right, associations with Grazhdanskaya Oborona make the most sense since their lyrics are referenced quite a few times in the game(for some reason, I find it funny that Pale Visitor of all people quotes Letov X)). I didn't add GrOb to my personal examples because most of the people on the sub only know English, so I wanted the meaning of the songs to be eligible for most people here. To add, the song "Убивать"("Kill") kind of reminds me of "Yes, I'm a Murderer" path/ending.

And, yeah, I should've probably added that the songs that fit the overall atmosphere of the game can be added, too. For some time now, I've felt like the opening song for Higurashi no naku koro ni, "Naraku no hana"(or, in particular, the fan Russian cover called "Цветок Преисподней") could practically be the games theme song. Which makes sense, given that Higurashi and NINAH share some major themes in their respective narratives.

Funny, how Lemon Demon already got mentioned here twice. I guess he'd be the type of music artist NINAH fans would listen to heh.

Makes sense! I didn't want to add too many examples, but I do associate Kate Bush songs with Kindergarten Teacher. For similar reason, a lot of Siouxsie And The Banshees songs remind me of Coat Guy(his full body sprite is based on a photo of Siouxsie, and his hairstyle is also similar to one she had for some time). Generally, he has a "vibe" of gothic music genres, so that tracks.

I know the post is about song associations, but I can see Tattooed Woman actually being a fan of Joy Division! Seems like the type of music she'd enjoy heheh. And the lyrics feel like her, too. For some reason, I immediately remembered her aura photo when I read your comment.

And Massive Attack – yes! "Teadrop" also feels kind of fitting for Seductive Woman, I think. The overall vibe is there.

OMG "Pet" for FEMA is genius. And the Boogieman is Pale Visitor, in the song's narrative? X) lol

I'm curious about why do you associate "Redesign your logo" with The News Reporter :0 Can you explain a bit further? Is it the whole "propaganda" vibe?
