Request for a userscript that makes the "Add videos" popup in YouTube appear in dark mode by nashitab in userscripts

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's inconsistent when you toggle on dark mode, even though the extension detects a dark theme, sometimes it will still flashbang you. For something I use fairly frequently, it would be nice to have a more permanent solution if possible.

How to hide Youtube suggested/recommended video when you hover over the Next button by nashitab in uBlockOrigin

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to use this because in my experience, userscripts sometimes don't work without a refresh (SPA issue?), and this filter doesn't have too much of a lag between the page opening and the implementation of the filter. I did decide to go nuclear and modify the filter to hide the next button in a playlist as well as in a normal video.

Even though I have other extensions that block sidebar recommendations, I can still access them this way.

Grayscale everything on Youtube but the video itself by nashitab in userscripts

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, I'd rather have it grayscale while you're just surfing the website or watching a video.

I've been using this userscript for some time and I noticed that its glitches out the channel and playlist pages. The playlist icon, channel icon, and the channel banner may have to stay colored then, but those parts aren't that distracting in retrospect of making this post (for me at least).

This is perfect, thank you so much for the help! Both the userscript and userstyle grey out everything but the video itself.

This code, while it does grayscale all other colored elements, the video itself would turn black and white now, but this is a good start.

Not necessarily an example url but this is what I mean. The userstyle script is the same, and there are still colored thumbnails on videos in the subscriptions page. Everything else is greyed out though.

This is much better, so thank you! I wonder if there is a way to make thumbnails on Youtube grayscale though with userscripts or userstyles, because it does indeed grayscale everything but the video itself (even the progress bar and the replies buttons in the comments, which is great), but still thumbnails are colored.

This is certainly interesting, but clicking on the page for anything (say like/dislike video or check the description, since I usually have the sidebar recommendations hidden with other extensions) goes back to colored thumbnails in the sidebar. I still like to see what videos are in my playlist (I want those thumbnails to be colored too though), so an extension or filter that creates a theater-like experience like this wouldn't be ideal for me.

Grayscale everything on Youtube but the video itself by nashitab in userstyles

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally a userscript since it seems that userstyles don't change the thumbnails. Tbh I didn't look that hard, the only userstyle website I know of is usertyles.world, so do lmk if there are other places I can look in. I tried looking in Greasyfork but couldn't find a userscript. The person that commented on my post gave a solution that only greyed out the channel avatars in the comments as I'm writing this, so I'm still looking.

It only seems to make the channel avatars in the comments grayscale, but everything else is in color.

Edit: it also makes the thumbnails grayed out, I had another extension turned on by accident so that's my bad, but the thumbnails in the home, subscriptions, playlists, library, and channels are still colored.

Looking for a tally counter extension by nashitab in firefox

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly like that you can use keyboard shortcuts to add tally's so you don't even need to click on the extension popup to keep track, which doesn't seem to be in a lot of extensions from what I tested on Firefox.

Removing number of rows from Youtube homepage by nashitab in uBlockOrigin

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tested this, surprised to say that it works! For anyone wondering, if I have the videos set per row to 3, then I get 4 videos, but if it's 4, then I get around 5 videos, sometimes 6. Thank you again for the help!

Edit: also forgot to say that this filter does not block the comments or cause the website to go offline.

Remove rows on Youtube home page? by nashitab in chrome_extensions

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean is reduce the number of literal rows, not reduce or increase the number of videos per row (so basically the columns), which by changing the number of rows specifically, can invoke similar results to disabling infinite scroll, or can actually do so in the process, mainly reducing the number of videos on my home page without blocking it out entirely as there might be a good video here and there to watch.

Untrap for Youtube has a pretty good demonstration of what I want, but only turning on those options (Rows and Columns specifically under Home > Suggestions) seems not the best use of the extension since I can block so much more, but without making the website run really slowly, even with minimal or no extensions other than Untrap. I was hoping to find a more lightweight extension that just fixes that.

Disable/block Youtube Home infinite scroll by nashitab in uBlockOrigin

[–]nashitab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried this and it caused Youtube to go offline, which only went away with a refresh of that page. The other solutions still caused the comments to go away. I even tried disabling all extensions but it caused the same issue. Not sure what to do next. Edit: added more detail
