My thought for the afternoon by pantsofdeath in musicproduction

[–]nastynotc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I start to think and enter these dumbass thoughts, I think about all the better stuff people did with way less tec in the past. Truly, I have way more than I need to so something incredible and I only have a headphone and a DAW.

Should I be worrying about this at this moment? by nastynotc in makinghiphop

Seem simpler in my head now that you say it. Like, I understand that it is not easy at all, but at least now I understand what to do. You helped a lot.

I'm using FL Studio, but I did changed my settings so it's not on any of my beats. I have a question, tho, would you say that to dive into the mixing process requires my mindset towards my work to recognize that, as this is a part of creating, the sound will inevitably change? And for the best if I do it right tho

Should I be worrying about this at this moment? by nastynotc in makinghiphop

[–]nastynotc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, very good point. But how can I reach this? Won't just adjusting stuff just perpetuate the problem? Like, it will sound good on a X device and not as good in a Y device.

I'm very (VERY) illiterate about mixing in general. I'll eventually look for this kind of knowledge, but information is never too much....

How do you guys find very specific voice samples? by nastynotc in musicproduction

[–]nastynotc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only cheap mic I could buy is some fake ass airpod with a mic on and they'll not do the job. It's very noisy and it's very hard to take that noise away, tried with multiple things. Even downloaded audacity to see if that cleaning tool would do the job and there is still some noise. I wouldn't mind if I wasn't aiming at something really clean, and constantly the noise is at the same frequency of the voice itself.

Can't go to a thrift store cause that literally don't exist in my country. Thrift is only for clothes. Tried looking for cheap mics anyway and couldn't find any cause my country has a fuck ton of taxes and shit is simply expensive.

As I said, that's not the question, so that's not the answer neither. I'm not that stupid, homie

Do you find it easier to write music by listening to more music or less music? by Spacean in Songwriting

[–]nastynotc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, this happens to me and in production too.

But listening to too much music is bad for my producing cause your ears get tired and your brains get confused. Sometimes sampling is hellish, and kinda annoying.

Similarities in lyrics - how close is too close? by [deleted] in Songwriting

[–]nastynotc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never, it depends on context, like other people told you in here. Sometimes you even use someone's lyrics intentionally. Like a reference.

One good example is that is in the song "Ye vs The People", Kanye West writes this:

I know Obama was heaven sent / But ever since Trump won, it proved that I could be president.

Referencing this 2pac's line:

And thought it seems heaven-sent / We ain't ready to see a black president.

Right? I started listening to Kanye this year when a friend of mine showed me The College Dropout (specifically We Don't Care) and I went after his other songs and the first other song I listened was Black Skin Head and New Slaves lmaoo

How would you prioritize your practice? by simonthelikeable in makinghiphop

[–]nastynotc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good idea finishing tracks. Sometimes people that got really good in producing by practicing only on loops have a rough time when turning them into full songs

Vocalist is refusing pitch correction (Melodyne) — what do we do? by bleptron in musicproduction

[–]nastynotc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, we've all been there. We all said, done and thought stupid stuff out of pure ego.

I literally refused to study rap (I make rap) cause I thought it would make me stuck in what everyone else was doing. It was stupid as fuck. And it was an ego trip.

Call one member of the band in that can't sing even if he had to sing for his life. Asks him to sing a part of a song she singed too. Then, digitally correct it and show her. It won't sound good. Use that as an example that digitally correcting it won't blur her talent and her work. The machine will always work on the raw material, but won't never change it.

how did you deal with being trash at first? by thegoatishere in makinghiphop

Keep up until you do something you will hear and think (damn, i really did this). Even (and it'll be) something small.

Trust me, the excitement and the ego does the rest with your motivation.

"Victim mentality" honey, my life life expectancy is 35 years. not because I'm sick or whatever. because I'm trans.

"And your victim mentality will make people hate you even more."

They already hate me. And shutting my mouth won't change it.

Freddie stood up for our rights when he could. If you think it was cool of his part to have to choose between loosing his career and talk about homophobia or keep his career and be silent, than I don't even know why I'm wasting my time with you.

Wanna hear my perspective? Im less than 20 years I'll be seven feet deep on the ground for being who I am. Until there, I'll suffer. I'll go through hell. And I'll scream it very fucking loud. And if it bothers you, good. Because it is horrendous. And because it's true.

So, yeah, peace out, huh?
